Drawing and Painting for Beginners Part 3: The Human Body
Table of Contents Introduction Chapter 1: Adult faces Chapter 2: Children’s and Babies’ Faces Chapter 3: Individual Features Eyes Noses Lips How to Draw Ears Chapter 5: How to Draw Hands and Feet How to Draw Hands Drawing Feet Chapter 6: How to Draw Hair Chapter 7: Body Proportions - Bigger Shoulders or Bigger Hips? Conclusion Author Bio Publisher Introduction As human beings, each one of us has a face that is unique to ourselves and to no-one else on the planet. It’s true that each of us has two ears, two eyes, a pair of eyebrows, a nose and a mouth, but that’s where the resemblance ends. There are an infinite number of variations on this basic theme, and even a tiny fraction of an inch in the size of each feature can make a difference to our recognition of one person from another. Our brains are so finely tuned to recognizing faces that they even see them where they aren’t there! Several people have reported seeing the face of Jesus in a cheese sandwich or the face of Abraham Lincoln in a stain on the floor. But within the human race, although the variety of individual faces is enormous, there are certain proportions and characteristics which are common to all of us. Let’s take a look.

Persian Letters (1721). By: Montesquieu, Translated By: John Davidson

Persian Letters (1721). By: Montesquieu, Translated By: John Davidson
Charles-Louis de Secondat, Baron de La Brède et de Montesquieu ( 18 January 1689 - 10 February 1755), generally referred to as simply Montesquieu, was a French judge, man of letters, and political philosopher. He is famous for his articulation of the theory of separation of powers, which is implemented in many constitutions throughout the world. He is also known for doing more than any other author to secure the place of the word "despotism" in the political lexicon. Biography: Montesquieu was born at the Château de la Brède in southwest France, 25 kilometres (16 mi) south of Bordeaux. His father, Jacques de Secondat, was a soldier with a long noble ancestry. His mother, Marie Françoise de Pesnel, who died when Charles was seven, was an heiress who brought the title of Barony of La Brède to the Secondat family. After the death of his mother he was sent to the Catholic College of Juilly, a prominent school for the children of French nobility, where he remained from 1700 to 1711. His father died in 1713 and he became a ward of his uncle, the Baron de Montesquieu. He became a counselor of the Bordeaux Parliament in 1714. In 1715 he married Jeanne de Lartigue, a Protestant, who eventually bore him three children. The Baron died in 1716, leaving him his fortune as well as his title, and the office of Président à Mortier in the Bordeaux Parliament. Montesquieu''s early life occurred at a time of significant governmental change. England had declared itself a constitutional monarchy in the wake of its Glorious Revolution (1688-89), and had joined with Scotland in the Union of 1707 to form the Kingdom of Great Britain. In France the long-reigning Louis XIV died in 1715 and was succeeded by the five-year-old Louis XV. These national transformations had a great impact on Montesquieu; he would refer to them repeatedly in his work.Montesquieu withdrew from the practice of law to devote himself to study and writing. He achieved literary success with the publication of his Lettres persanes (Persian Letters, 1721), a satire representing society as seen through the eyes of two imaginary Persian visitors to Paris and Europe, cleverly criticizing the absurdities of contemporary French society. He next published Considérations sur les causes de la grandeur des Romains et de leur décadence (Considerations on the Causes of the Grandeur and Decadence of the Romans, 1734).................. John Davidson (11 April 1857 - 23 March 1909) was a Scottish poet, playwright and novelist, best known for his ballads. He also did translations from French and German. In 1909, financial difficulties, as well as physical and mental health problems, led to his suicide. Life and works: Scotland He was born at Barrhead, East Renfrewshire as the son of Alexander Davidson, an Evangelical Union minister and Helen née Crocket of Elgin. His family removed to Greenock in 1862 where he was educated at Highlanders'' Academy there and entered the chemical laboratory of Walker''s Sugarhouse refinery in his 13th year, returning after one year to school as a pupil teacher. In Public Analysts'' Office, 1870-71. In these employments he developed an interest in science which became an important characteristic of his poetry. In 1872 he returned for four years to the Highlanders'' Academy as a pupil-teacher, and, after a year at Edinburgh University (1876-77), received in 1877 his first scholastic employment at Alexander''s Charity, Glasgow. During the next six years he held positions in the following schools: Perth Academy (1878-81), Kelvinside Academy, Glasgow (1881-82), and Hutchinson''s Charity, Paisley (1883-84). He varied his career by spending a year as clerk in a Glasgow thread firm (1884-85), and subsequently taught in Morrison''s Academy, Crieff (1885-88), and in a private school at Greenock (1888-89). Married 1885.....

That is when plant life evolved along with animal life. And that is how the surface of the earth was covered with lush fruitful vegetation, which flourished and evolved in different climates. As time went by, climatic changes also changed the nature and the appearance of these plants. From multicelled algae and fungi, they became huge multicelled giant trees, like the Sequoia, which are remnants of those glorious days of giant Green trees gone by. And soon man found out that trees were very useful to give him shelter, to give him food, and to provide him with essential fruit, leaves, and seeds to supplement his diet. That was because he was imitating the animals around him. They nibbled at leaves, he did the same thing. Sometimes he ended up with a tummy ache. Sometimes the animals ended up sick while he was left hale and hearty. But down the ages, and through lots of trial and error, he found out that every single plant out there could be put into use, even those plants we consider weeds today. The mythological and historical hanging Gardens of Babylon, which were supposed to have been built by Nebuchadnezzar, but in actuality were built by Sennacherib in Nineveh, Assyria, about 300 km away from Babylon. These were lush with green trees from all over the world. And historians who are not really bothered about historic authenticity and the names of kings, did not bother much about the locality or the creator of one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. First-hand accounts of that time were not available, and when Babylon conquered Assyria, they called it the new Babylon. And so centuries later historians wrote about the wonders of marvelous trees and green vegetation, growing in Babylon. So that is the reason why since ancient times, trees, especially fruit trees have been an important part of cultured and civilized landscaping. They were and are planted in gardens for the pleasure of the general public or for your own private enjoyment.

That is so not true. A little bit of planning and this fallacy is going to fall to pieces by the wayside. Those who are grown annuals for years are going to give this statement the lie gladly. Their initial investment must have been just a packet of seeds. The next year, the plants were grown from the seeds collected from the previous years’ crop. Do not forget that the life of an annual is limited to just 12 months and so you must not expect them to grow up and bloom again the next year, unless of course you allowed the seeds to lie in the bed without collecting them. That is when they are going to bloom up just like weeds with a little bit of rain, and with the coming of the spring. One of the great advantages of annuals is that they are quite easy to grow and flourish in your garden over a long period. The most common are well known to even amateur gardeners who can recognize a cornflower, nasturtiums, Virginia stock and Candytuft. These are very beautiful in themselves, but every gardener is growing them in his garden.

The word mustard in itself brings on an idea of a pungent and delicious condiment, without which you may not enjoy your hamburgers, meat steaks, and other preparations. We just need that extra touch of mustard to add to the flavor of an otherwise bland dish. The old Romans knew all about it when they prepared a mixture of young wine –mustum-and mustard seeds and ground them together into a paste. The ard portion of the word comes from the Latin word for hot and flaming –ardens, as in ardent…

Table of Contents Introduction Different types of Healing Music Music Therapy – My Experiences Secrets of Traditional Chants Prenatal Influence of Music on Babies Exorcism through Music and Rhythm Even Simple Words Hold the Power… Different Ragas for Different Ailments Conclusion Author Bio Publisher Introduction Music relaxes, elevates, soothes, inspires and delights. But most of us do not know that music can also heal, and when I got interested in this traditional method of healing one spiritually, mentally and emotionally through music, I began by researching in ancient musical therapy processes all over the world. I was astonished to hear and learn that every civilization had its own music therapy process, for healing. It came in the form of chants, prayers, and morning dawned to the music of the birds chirping on the trees, and the bees humming on the flowers. If you were relaxed enough to lie down under a tree, and just hear the sloughing of the wind, making a rustling sound through the trees, you would find yourself feeling sleepy, relaxing, and then calming down tranquilly. This book is going to give you a glimpse of traditions in Asia, along with traditional information of music therapy, and because I did not research in Chinese, Thai, Japanese or other Eastern music therapy, you are going to find references to ragas, slokas, pertaining to Indian music, and also Indian mythology.

This black magic is added to the wedding quilt by a helpless 17-year-old beautiful slave whose rather monstrous and spoiled, self-centered mistress intends to sell her off after her own wedding and then orders her to make her wedding quilt. And evil is prayed into every stitch, every patch, every inch of the quilt cursing the mistress and her husband with death and destruction. And that took me to the idea of writing a book on quilting. Quilting has long been a tradition in many places where things of beauty were made by a group of women gathering together and gossiping in their leisure time while they made something useful for their families. In the East, traditionally was embroidery work done by the elderly women sitting in the sun, and stitching the clothes of their granddaughters. When one of my aunts got married, she wore a heavy veil of which every inch had been stitched lovingly by her friends every afternoon. That veil is, of course, 45 years old now, and a priceless heirloom. This was a traditional practice in many parts of the world, but also there was an age old practice of piecing together scrap patches of fabric and then sewing them by hand edge to edge to create decorative designs and patterns. Do not confuse patchwork with quilting. These are 2 different art forms often done together. Patchwork has gone back millenniums, in ancient Egypt, Asia, Africa, and Europe, when pieces of cloth which had been so long around that you really could not be bothered to repair the garment were gathered together and made into something useful for the house.

This book is for the individuals who want to be an artist but know nothing about drawing yet. I know how it feels when you want to illustrate an idea but you just don’t know how to start. And when you finally grabbed the confidence to mark that paper but then it turned out really terrible that you don’t want to show it to anyone. This instructional manual is for making that ‘two circles’ cat of yours into something more pleasing and distinguishable, for enhancing that sheep which looks like a cloud with a face, for turning your stick figures into cartoons, and more. Learn the very basics of drawing easily by following this step-by-step tutorial and realize that drawing is something that is fun to do, and not something that becomes a cause of frustration. To give you a hint of what this book is all about, look at this short list of tasks that you will learn to properly initiate after reading and following the tutorial. Tasks: -Start with a loose sketch. You need to define the first look of your drawing by sketching it first so it could serve as a pattern for your permanent outlines (defined outlines). If the lay-out of your primary sketch is too far-off from the final piece that you are after, the latter parts are going to be difficult. -Define permanent outlines. Trace your sketch to clearly define the contour shape (primary shape) of your drawing, and clean it up by erasing the sketch markings. -Show/illustrate some texture Texture contour provides a better portrayal of the shape’s dimension values. The details such as scales, fur or any print and texture should curve and flow with the contour shape of your subject and adjust with it accordingly. -Draw the necessary details. Use a variety of line thickness and line weight (given pressure on the pencil) to show the right balance to the whole drawing, use thick lines for the parts that should visually dominate the drawing, and less visible and thin lines for the secondary details and parts that merely describe the object/subject’s form.
