Come Out of Her, My People

release date: Aug 01, 2022
Come Out of Her, My People
Michael James Reed gives all glory to the Lord in this passionate plea to all people of his former religion, Roman Catholicism, to come to the knowledge of GodaEUR(tm)s Word over what he demonstrates is the word of men, Roman catechism. Although Michael targets Roman Catholics, Come Out of Her, My People is truly essential reading for Evangelicals as well due to its wealth of biblical information and doctrinal insight. The Protestant churches of the world have been beguiled into accepting many of RomeaEUR(tm)s errors, and Come Out is a stark reminder to all who consider themselves biblical to not be unequally yoked to such an institution. Ultimately, Michael has done a masterful job of lifting the veil of Christianity that the pagan church of Rome has been hiding under since the Edict of Milan in AD 313. He has also exposed one of RomeaEUR(tm)s leading apologists, Karl Keating, as a false teacher who gave demonstrably false information to his readers in order to lead them away from biblical truth. Furthermore, MichaelaEUR(tm)s stunning, new revelations of Mystery Babylon give new light to that false end-time church all Christians should be aware of. Michael asks all Roman Catholics to search the Scriptures for themselves in order to truly know their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. For the name of Jesus is above every other name and the only name by which we are to be saved. From the man or woman on the street to the most highly esteemed theologian, all who read this book will come away with at least some new knowledge of God. Michael has put his heart into this work to bring the knowledge of Jesus Christ to his people, Roman Catholics, and warn them of the road on which they are traveling.

The Missionary Mind and American East Asia Policy, 1911–1915

release date: Mar 17, 2020
The Missionary Mind and American East Asia Policy, 1911–1915
At a telling moment in the development of American East Asia policy, the dream of a Christian China, made vivid by the utterances of returned missionaries, fired the imagination of the general public, influenced opinion leaders and policymakers, and furthered the Open Door doctrine. Missionary-inspired enthusiasm for China ran parallel to the different attitude of the American business community, which viewed Japan as the more appropriate focus of American interest in East Asia. During the five years here examined, the religious mentality proved stronger than the commercial mentality in influencing American policy toward the Chinese Republican Revolution and the Twenty-one Demands of 1915. James Reed’s treatment of the struggle between William Jennings Bryan and Robert Lansing over the Japanese demands in China is detailed and penetrating. This book builds on the work of Akira Iriye, Michael Hunt, Ernest May, and others in its analysis of cultural attitudes, business affairs, and the mindset of the foreign policy elites. Its thesis—that the Protestant missionary movement profoundly shaped the course of our historical relations with East Asia—will interest both specialists and general readers.

Parents as Talent Developers

Parents as Talent Developers
Our purpose in writing this book is to give minority parents (African American, Latino) the tools they need to help their children perform much better in school. The content of the book comes from discovering actual parental practices used by minority families whose children excel at school. Our research teams went to public schools in minority neighborhoods in New York City and Long Island to find high-achieving minority children. We then visited their families and interviewed the parents and children separately to uncover what the parents did to warrant such high achievement. It is these minority parents who are the instructors in this book. We have talked with them, wrote down their stories, and extracted the parental practices that we call kernels. Kernels are seeds in the plant world. The kernels on an ear of corn are the seeds needed to grow the next generation of corn. We use this term in the sense that each parental practice that we highlight in this book should be viewed as a seed for a childs academic growth. Our research teams highlight ninety-six kernels and embed many more practices in the text that bolster academic achievement. It is a resource that minority parents can use to give their children the opportunities that result from an emphasis on academics. The book is also designed for educators to use in their everyday interactions with minority and nonminority parents.

From global complexity to local reality: Aligning implementation frameworks with Sustainable Development Goals and landscape approaches
Key messages Many of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) retain a sectorial focus; however, emphasis is placed on the need for integration across goals and targets.Given that there are inherent synergies and trade-offs embedded throughout, applying sectorial approaches to achieving the SDGs will likely be ineffective.Integrated landscape approaches offer significant potential as an implementing framework for addressing interlinked and conflicting challenges. This brief identifies where the current set of goals would benefit from a landscape approach and to what degree, and presents key recommendations.

To what extent does the presence of forests and trees contribute to food production in humid and dry forest landscapes?

release date: Feb 23, 2015
To what extent does the presence of forests and trees contribute to food production in humid and dry forest landscapes?
This review assesses the strength of the evidence that reports how forests and trees contribute to agricultural (food) production in order to prioritize further research for better decision-making. The search strategy employs terms from studies on forests, agroforestry, ecosystem services and agriculture across a range of bibliographic databases, internet and specialist search engines and an open call for gray literature. Retrieved articles will be screened by title, abstract and full text and inclusion/exclusion exercise will generate the final list of studies. Data from these studies will be extracted using a coding tool. Due to anticipated heterogeneity in the retrieved data, we will group findings into appropriate categories as an initial presentation of the data. Sub group meta-analysis by types of ecosystem services and other appropriate predictors will be conducted to show the positive or negative effects of forests and trees on food production. We consider there may be significant gaps in the literature with regard to: 1) Which ecosystem services are provided by forests and trees within a landscape; 2) Over what spatial scales are these services transferred, and; 3) To what extent are these services ultimately translated to increased food production?

Sir Walter Scott: Landscape and Locality

release date: Jan 13, 2014
Sir Walter Scott: Landscape and Locality
Scott was the first British novelist to discover in landscape a literary as well as a pictoral medium, an insight which he exploits to powerful effect in his Scottish novels. Mr Reed''s book breaks new ground by demonstrating the originality of Scott''s landscapes, in which romantic nature takes its place in a realistic context of people, history, architecture and traditions. The author shows how, as poet and novelist, Scott explores the notion of place to a depth where it operates not merely as dramatic background but as a force which shapes and directs the minds of its inhabitants. This study adds a new dimension to the understanding of Scott''s work.

Put Your Mindset to Work
The right mindset can make you three times more likely to get the job you want-and even less likely to lose it later. What does it take to get and keep the job you want? Ninety-six percent of employers argue that it''s not just about having the right skills for the position- it''s all about the right mindset. As two leading experts on the subject, Reed and Stoltz know what employers really want from the people they hire and keep. According to their extensive and globally acclaimed research, there is a specific set of mental traits that will make you exponentially more desirable to potential employers, and more likely to succeed and enjoy your job once you''re hired. This "3G Mindset" is: ? Global-the openness and big-picture perspective to compete on a global scale in any job ? Good-a positive force with an unwavering moral compass ? Grit-the tenacity and resilience to thrive on adversity The authors reveal why employers are three times more likely to hire people with the right mindset over those who are more qualified on paper. This book provides an actionable approach for both assessing and developing these essential traits.

Tibbits' Boys

Tibbits' Boys
Tibbit''s Boys is a new form of a combined regimental and campaign history. The 21st New York Cavalry regiment''s unit history is the means by which readers may experience the Shenandoah valley campaign of the summer of 1864. As the story of this late war regiment unfolds, readers can watch the regiment''s birth from a cadre of experienced officers and men. At the same time, readers will also be able to review the tactical and strategic context of the Union high command''s final offensive designed to end the War Between the States. The Shenandoah Valley campaign of 1864 was a major theater of operations that contributed to the downfall of the Confederacy. Although the 21st New York Cavalry did not participate in the climatic fall battles of the campaign of 1864, the regiment returned to action during the mopping up phase of the offensive, directed at Mai John S. Mosbey''s 43rd Virginia Partizan Rangers. An epilogue describing the Indian War service of the regiment has been included to make the story complete. This book has something to say to the present generation about the War Between the States that has not been said by other writers. It tells the history of a major campaign from the viewpoint of the soldier on the firing line as well as from the commander''s perspective. Civil War and middle period students will be interested in this book.
