Hors d''elle quant à son contenu, Iku fait part de sa colère au responsable, Sunagawa, mais la réaction n''est pas celle attendue. Et Iku est désignée comme complice !

Iku est passée agent chef, entre autres grâce à l''aide de Dojo. Alors que ses sentiments pour celui-ci grandissent peu à peu, elle est envoyée en mission dans la bibliothèque préfectorale d''Ibaraki, sa région natale ! Cependant, elle se retrouve dès son arrivée en butte au harcèlement des filles des Affaires générales, et pour couronner le tout elle reçoit la visite de ses parents, à qui elle cache toujours sa profession !

Le Corps des bibliothécaires coule à nouveau des jours paisibles, après avoir pu tirer Komaki sain et sauf des griffes du Comité d’amélioration. Mais, à la Saint-Valentin, Iku voit une jeune femme offrir des chocolats à Dojo... Pendant ce temps, Shibasaki fait la connaissance d''un usager de la bibliothèque. Alors qu''Iku s''inquiète des rumeurs qui courent sur cette relation, elle apprend que Temps nouveaux publierait un article illégal ?!

Dojo, gravement blessé lors de l’opération visant à faire accorder l’asile politique à l’écrivain Kurato Toma, a confié la réussite de la mission à Iku. Celle-ci arrive saine et sauve à Osaka en compagnie de maître Toma et cherche à lui faire rejoindre un consulat. Quant à ses sentiments sur Dojo, Iku va devoir les révéler au grand jour... Depuis que, lectrice, elle fut sauvée d’une rafle par un des membres de cette unité d’élite, Iku Kasahara rêve d’en faire partie à son tour. Mais l’entraînement, mené d’une main de fer par son instructeur, s’avère impitoyable ! Adaptée d’une série de romans à succès écrits par Hiro Arikawa, “La guerre des bibliothèques” est une incroyable oeuvre de politique-fiction, à la fois grave et prophétique, mais non dénuée d’humour, qui emprunte autant à Appleseed qu’à Fahrenheit 451. Une ode à la liberté et aux livres, originale pour ne pas dire unique en son genre, qui fut adaptée en une série télévisée à succès réalisée par le prestigieux studio I.G. (Ghost in the Shell). Le roman a été vendu à près de 1.5 millions d’exemplaires au Japon, et a été distingué du “2008 Seiun Award for a long fiction”, équivalent asiatique du prix Hugo. Les éditions Glénat auront le plaisir de proposer au public le premier volume du roman en septembre 2010 !

Les parents d''Iku, qui s''opposent à ce qu''elle soit agent de défense, sont venus la voir sur son lieu de travail. Iku fait de son mieux en tant que bibliothécaire, leur cachant qu''elle appartient au GIB, mais le naturel a tôt fait de reprendre le dessus. C’est alors qu’Iku rencontre Marie, une jeune malentendante, amie d''enfance de Komaki. Seulement, quelques jours après, ce dernier est arrêté par le Comité d''amélioration !!

En quête de liberté d’expression, l’écrivain très populaire Kurato Toma a attaqué le Comité d’amélioration des médias en justice et porté l’affaire devant la Cour Suprême du Japon. Or, le verdict rendu le déboute. Dès son annonce, l’équipe Dojo applique le plan visant à faire de lui un réfugié politique, mais Dojo est touché par une balle ! Gravement blessé, il confie la réussite de la mission à Iku... Que va-t-elle faire ?!

Iku commence à penser à suivre l''exemple de son supérieur, le lieutenant Dojo, en plus de celui d''un agent du CB qu''elle admire (son prince charmant). Mais en niant ce sentiment, elle blesse involontairement Dojo ! Pendant ce temps, un conflit à grande échelle éclate avec les ASA !

Le rideau a fini par se lever sur la bataille de l''exposition préfectorale d''Ibaraki ! Alors qu''elle voit ses compagnons blessés les uns après les autres lors des échanges de coup de feu, Iku tire sur quelqu''un pour la première fois de sa vie ! Dojo la trouve alors qu''elle est bouleversée...Bien que les combats aient pris fin, l''action menée par le CB divise l''opinion. C''est alors qu''un intrus fait soudain irruption ! Le CB est menacé par une crise supplémentaire...

Ayant appris que Dojo est son prince, Iku décide, encouragée par Komaki, d’observer son ancien instructeur tel qu’il est aujourd’hui. C’est alors que, Marié étant tombée sur un pervers à la bibliothèque, Iku et Shibasaki sont désignées volontaires pour jouer le rôle d’appât lors de l’enquête ?! Puis vient le temps de l’examen de promotion des agents de 1re classe... Or Tezuka, normalement assuré d’être reçu, se retrouve en mauvaise posture ?!

Pour protéger le célèbre romancier Toma de la censure, le Corps des bibliothécaires utilise le domicile de l’ancien commandant de la base de bibliothèque du Kanto, Inamine. Mais voilà que les Services Spéciaux d’Amélioration s’y présentent ! Dojo et Iku doivent fuir. De plus, on leur fait part d’une tactique effarante... Enfin, l’histoire est en marche !
