Perspective As a Gift
This book represents a selection of poems of John Light spanning the years from 1999 to 2018 and covering a range of topics. They have been organized here by subject, which can be an arbitrary decision. Many poems can fall into multiple categories.I had no intent to have these ever published. Yet, at the start of 2020, the world has witnessed a pandemic that I sense is changing the world forever. Millions have been affected by the pandemic. As I write this preface, over 4.7M total confirmed cases have been recorded, and over 315K have died. Where this pandemic ends up is anyone''s guess at this point. If any of these poems can provide comfort, hope, or light, then they have served their purpose. All poems are original works and copyrighted by the Author John Light. They may be used with permission and with acknowledgment of the author.I can be reach via twitter @light_poet

G1, the Bureau of Extraordinary Investigations: The Second War of the Worlds

release date: Jul 26, 2018
G1, the Bureau of Extraordinary Investigations: The Second War of the Worlds
Excerpt:Huge British battleships glided along the Thames, their cannon swiveling to cover an oddly shaped object that had struck near London''s outskirts, just inland from the famous waters by only a few yards. The shape glowed red hot as it sputtered there from water that had struck it from its impact and corresponding explosion of dirt and buildings, causing some of the Thames to wash over it momentarily. The scream of sirens, air raid sirens.Men and women, dressed in black with emergency arm bands on, scattered to hustle civilians to safety, fearing the Germans had struck with some fancy new kind of deadly weapon. But they were wrong. They were all wrong. It wasn''t the Germans at all.It wasn''t a super bomb.It was an attack from Mars. And it was the 2nd one!

The Darckmoor Demon and Other Enigmas
Who or what is responsible for the eerie howling from the night-darkened fells that disturbs the inhabitants of Darckmoor? Is there malice at work in the world of small presses? Why is there an eight-foot-high toadstool on the back of a truck speeding along a remote byway? When a new statue by a reclusive artist is displayed in a small gallery in London''s East End, is it the beginning of something bigger? And what is the cause of the sorrowful single-mindedness of the long-term resident of an old-fashioned hotel?

The Enigmas of Hugo Lacklan

release date: Jan 01, 2012
The Enigmas of Hugo Lacklan
In THE ENIGMAS OF HUGO LACKLAN, Alexander Dunkley relates some of the puzzling anecdotes of his social anthropologist friend. Though quite unacademic, these questions, and others, intrigue Hugo. In THE VANISHING PUNK, how did the punk thief vanish after his crimes? And we can only wonder what the reason was for the odd behaviour of the FIVE ELDERLY GENTLEMEN. Then, in THE EXPENSIVE DAUB, why were hideous daubs selling for such high prices from a London gallery?
