The word mustard in itself brings on an idea of a pungent and delicious condiment, without which you may not enjoy your hamburgers, meat steaks, and other preparations. We just need that extra touch of mustard to add to the flavor of an otherwise bland dish. The old Romans knew all about it when they prepared a mixture of young wine –mustum-and mustard seeds and ground them together into a paste. The ard portion of the word comes from the Latin word for hot and flaming –ardens, as in ardent…

This black magic is added to the wedding quilt by a helpless 17-year-old beautiful slave whose rather monstrous and spoiled, self-centered mistress intends to sell her off after her own wedding and then orders her to make her wedding quilt. And evil is prayed into every stitch, every patch, every inch of the quilt cursing the mistress and her husband with death and destruction. And that took me to the idea of writing a book on quilting. Quilting has long been a tradition in many places where things of beauty were made by a group of women gathering together and gossiping in their leisure time while they made something useful for their families. In the East, traditionally was embroidery work done by the elderly women sitting in the sun, and stitching the clothes of their granddaughters. When one of my aunts got married, she wore a heavy veil of which every inch had been stitched lovingly by her friends every afternoon. That veil is, of course, 45 years old now, and a priceless heirloom. This was a traditional practice in many parts of the world, but also there was an age old practice of piecing together scrap patches of fabric and then sewing them by hand edge to edge to create decorative designs and patterns. Do not confuse patchwork with quilting. These are 2 different art forms often done together. Patchwork has gone back millenniums, in ancient Egypt, Asia, Africa, and Europe, when pieces of cloth which had been so long around that you really could not be bothered to repair the garment were gathered together and made into something useful for the house.

That is so not true. A little bit of planning and this fallacy is going to fall to pieces by the wayside. Those who are grown annuals for years are going to give this statement the lie gladly. Their initial investment must have been just a packet of seeds. The next year, the plants were grown from the seeds collected from the previous years’ crop. Do not forget that the life of an annual is limited to just 12 months and so you must not expect them to grow up and bloom again the next year, unless of course you allowed the seeds to lie in the bed without collecting them. That is when they are going to bloom up just like weeds with a little bit of rain, and with the coming of the spring. One of the great advantages of annuals is that they are quite easy to grow and flourish in your garden over a long period. The most common are well known to even amateur gardeners who can recognize a cornflower, nasturtiums, Virginia stock and Candytuft. These are very beautiful in themselves, but every gardener is growing them in his garden.

Glass in Your Vegetable Garden

Glass in Your Vegetable Garden
Table of Contents Introduction Glasshouses, Greenhouses and Hot Houses Cloches and the Greenhouse Effect Watering under Cloches Choosing the Right Site Time to Sow Some Easily Grown vegetables under Glass Tomatoes Cucumbers General Bed Making Tip Mushrooms Dwarf Beans and French Beans Carrots and Radishes Lettuces Conclusion Author Bio Publisher Introduction The first time I saw a glass greenhouse in a mountain area, where the weather was very harsh, and still vegetables were being grown under such inclement conditions, I began to wonder – how many of us can really afford a glass greenhouse, especially when the materials are so expensive. That is why I am writing this book to tell you about how you can use cloches and glass in your vegetable garden, and get plenty of fresh vegetables all the year round, even when it is -10° outside. Glass covers to force vegetables and fruit much before their normal, natural seasonal harvest time, as well as protection have been in long usage for centuries. It has been noticed that tomatoes are one of the best of all indoor crops for even a newbie gardener and if you are growing them under glass, they are going to be of a higher quality than those grown outdoors. Also, the harvest is going to be earlier than the one which you are going to expect from your outdoor crop. Remember that when you are making a glass house, you are giving your plants an opportunity to grow in a temperature which, though artificially controlled is making an atmosphere as if they are growing outside, in one particular season. I have already written a book about Introduction to Sustainable Greenhouse Gardening http://www.amazon.com/Introduction-Sustainable-Greenhouse-GardeningGrowing/dp/1511775696/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1440090110&sr=8-1&keywords=greenhouse+gardening+dueep, for all those people who like constructing things in their garden for protecting their plants and growing out of season things, even in winter. This book is going to give you more information, about the types of vegetables you can grow in these glasshouses – under glass – or under cloches, where you are going to get the greenhouse effect in a limited space.

That is when plant life evolved along with animal life. And that is how the surface of the earth was covered with lush fruitful vegetation, which flourished and evolved in different climates. As time went by, climatic changes also changed the nature and the appearance of these plants. From multicelled algae and fungi, they became huge multicelled giant trees, like the Sequoia, which are remnants of those glorious days of giant Green trees gone by. And soon man found out that trees were very useful to give him shelter, to give him food, and to provide him with essential fruit, leaves, and seeds to supplement his diet. That was because he was imitating the animals around him. They nibbled at leaves, he did the same thing. Sometimes he ended up with a tummy ache. Sometimes the animals ended up sick while he was left hale and hearty. But down the ages, and through lots of trial and error, he found out that every single plant out there could be put into use, even those plants we consider weeds today. The mythological and historical hanging Gardens of Babylon, which were supposed to have been built by Nebuchadnezzar, but in actuality were built by Sennacherib in Nineveh, Assyria, about 300 km away from Babylon. These were lush with green trees from all over the world. And historians who are not really bothered about historic authenticity and the names of kings, did not bother much about the locality or the creator of one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. First-hand accounts of that time were not available, and when Babylon conquered Assyria, they called it the new Babylon. And so centuries later historians wrote about the wonders of marvelous trees and green vegetation, growing in Babylon. So that is the reason why since ancient times, trees, especially fruit trees have been an important part of cultured and civilized landscaping. They were and are planted in gardens for the pleasure of the general public or for your own private enjoyment.

Healing through Milk and Yogurt

Healing through Milk and Yogurt
Table of Contents Healing through Milk and Yogurt Table of Contents Introduction Digesting Milk Natural Remedies Rejuvenating Recipe Avoiding Milk Increasing Weight Vertigo Milk for Skin Problems Sugar remedy Blemishes Pimples and Pimple Scars Natural Depilatory Natural Cure for Baldness Hoarse Throat and Chest Infections Whooping Cough Acidity Insomnia Almond milk Headaches and Migraine Gastric and Duodenal Ulcers Blocked nose Yogurt Lethargy Constipation The Best Way to Eat Yogurt Yogurt for Hair Care Hair fall Dandruff Yogurt for Beauty Skin Cleansing Blemishes and Pimples Traditional Clarified Butter – Desi Ghee Conclusion Author Bio Publisher Introduction Since ancient times, mankind has considered milk from animals to be one of the most easily available and popular supplements to his diet. This milk is the main constituent of a number of other products like cheese, butter, yogurt, cottage cheese, and buttermilk. This book is going to tell you all about how you can use these products to cure a number of ailments. In ancient times, a man’s prosperity was counted by the number of livestock he had in his farm, including goats, sheep, cows, horses, and other such domesticated animals. That is why in ancient books, the milk of a cow has been described in such glowing terms – The spinal cord of a cow has a nerve called Sunlight in it. Whenever the Sun God showers his rays on the body of a cow grazing in the fields, the rays are turned into gold when they touch the nerve called sunlight. That is the reason why the butter and the milk you get from a cow is golden in color. Talk about imagination! But this is the reason why when the Celtic and Gaulic tribes left Britain during the Roman conquest, the women walked in front of the cows and horses in order to protect them! That means if any one tried stealing the cows away, they would have to go through the warrior women first! Traditionally, milk was drank fresh without heating. It is only nowadays that we pasteurize it in order to get rid of all the germs. The yellowish color, supposed to be gold from the rays of the sun [!] is nothing but fat globules in the milk. The white color of the milk is due to casein. This is rich in nourishing and nutritional calcium. That is the reason why growing children are given a glass full of milk morning and evening, so that they have strong bones, good teeth and a healthy constituency. Traditionally, it is believed that the best time to drink milk is in the early morning. According to the ancients, the milk was digested as the sun went up, taking with it the benefit of the rays of the sun. That is why milk and milk products were never given to members of the family during the evening hours. There is a scientific reason behind this belief. It takes about three hours for milk to digest. That is why, if you are drinking milk at night in order to sleep more peacefully, do not go to sleep, as soon as you drink the milk.
