An EXACT reproduction from an original edition of Our Home Physician a new and popular guide to the art of preserving health and treating disease; with plain advice for all the medical and surgical emergencies of the family Vol 1 by George Miller Beard first published in 1869. This book may have occasional imperfections such as missing or blurred pages, poor pictures, errant marks, etc. that were either part of the original artifact, or were introduced by the scanning process. Manuscripts and photocopies collected by Davies while researching and writing a biography entitled, "George Beard, Mormon Pioneer Artist with a Camera," privately published, ca. 1974. Collection includes Beard''s memoirs and correspondence, news clippings and biographies about him, a transcript of his funeral service, Beard family histories, photographs, and a short color film made by KSL-TV regarding Beard''s life. Papers include materials authored by Lovenia Bullock Beard, Edna Beard Taylor, Glenn Beard Lee and Gladys Beard Wainwright.

Travel diary kept by George Beard during a plein air painting and photography trip from Coleville, Utah, to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and the Grand Tetons. Includes brief entries from August 15 to October 10, 1889. Some entries mention photographs taken at different places, along with a corresponding number. A list of photographs taken is at the end of the diary, and images captured include Jackson Lake, Grand Tetons, Grand Canyon of the Snake River, Smith''s Lake, and Smith Fork. Also includes some hand-drawn sketches of views of mountains and Smith Fork, and a hand-drawn map of the area travelled. Also includes a pronunciation guide for wildlife, likely in a local Native American language, possibly Shoshone.
