Nectar from Heaven

Nectar from Heaven
Albert Low used the stories and inspirational pieces in this collection during talks that he gave over many years spent as a Zen teacher. Each story has a point to make that would be difficult to spell out in specific detail, but which has the potential to change the way we see the world. Stories and inspirational texts have always been used in this way. To see what he means, one only has to think of the parables of Jesus, the fables of Lafontaine and Aesop, the stories about the exploits of Mullah Nassr Eddin, the stories of Jalaluddin Rumi, and the famous Mahabharata of which the Bhagavad Gita forms a part.

New Zealand Company, Original Correspondence. General, Folio 3501-4000
Description: Several letters, most of which are addressed to the Chairman and Board of Directors of the New Zealand Company. Most consist of applications and recommendations of those wishing to emigrate to the New Zealand colonies. Letters reveal that applications were often made in response to British newspaper advertisements. There are several testimonials and applications made specifically by men wishing to be hired as surveyors and assistants under the company''s employ for the preliminary expedition to New Zealand. Many applications enquire and even stipulate conditions of employment, discussing anticipated annual salaries, dates of departure, whether family members may also emigrate, free passage and return passage following the expedition. Other letters refer to the general need for engineers, mechanics, agricultural labourers and land surveyors in the colonies. Later letters also contain applications to buy company shares and land in New Zealand, as well as inspection notes made on the dimensions and capacity of emigrant ships. There are also several printed building plans of the lands and estates made by Peter Macquisten and offered as proof of his experience to aid his application. Contracts between the New Zealand and Plymouth Companies are also referred to.
