Hunger, Politics and Security

Hunger, Politics and Security
Abstract: World hunger represents a challenge to global peace and this challenge is the emphasis of a pamphlet prepared for the Presidential Commission on World Hunger. Public concern for hungry people is vocal during international crises of war, famine or disaster; however, a greater and more widespread danger may be the chronic undernutrition caused by worldwide poverty of which the public is unaware. It is urged that focusing relations between the United States and developing nations toward a commitment to end hunger is in the long-term political and economic security interests of Americans. World hunger is seen as a symptom of an underlying economic disorder that is potentially explosive; its solution is an objective all nations could achieve in cooperation with each other, a process that would in itself increase world security. These issues must be addressed if international political relations are to improve. Action on world hunger should become an essential imperative of U.S. national security policy.

Until suddenly in 1975, a string of strange events would spiral his life into the unknown world of physic healing. Inexplicable physical phenomena occurred in his presence, and it was at this point that he discovered that he was able to heal with his hands, psychometrize, and move objects without touching them. A very mysterious healing energy had chosen Michael as a channel. But where had this energy come from''. In his quest to discover from what source this energy came from, and why it had chosen him. He travelled to America, where science was carefully examining such phenomena. Michael voluntarily submitted himself to some of the most rigorous scientifically controlled tests under strict laboratory conditions. And amazed and astonished and puzzled those scientific experts. They could not discover where the energy was coming from. But Michael proved it to them that, that this energy what ever it''s origin existed within him. From his first awareness of this energy in his hands, he knew that he had been given this strange energy gift to heal, and every few months he would discover that he had a new ability. But then suddenly things would change, yet another strange interruption, his life would never be the same. (But the great light of hope remained burning).

The Optical Transfer Function of Imaging Systems

release date: May 04, 2018
The Optical Transfer Function of Imaging Systems
The Optical Transfer Function of Imaging Systems deals extensively with the theoretical concept of the optical transfer function (OTF), its measurement, and application to imaging devices. The OTF is a mathematical entity describing how well the subject is transferred into an image via the lens. The book focuses on the practical aspects of using and measuring the OTF. It presents the background physics necessary to understand and assess the performance of the great proliferation of electro-optical systems, including image intensifiers, video cameras, and thermal imagers. Assuming a senior undergraduate level of optics knowledge, the book is suitable for graduate courses in optics, electro-optics, and photographic science. In addition, it is a practical guide for systems designers who require a means of assessing and specifying the performance of imaging systems. It is also of interest to physicists and engineers working in all areas of imaging.

Assassin
The U.S. President has directed his close friend Patrick Hanley to hunt down the most wanted terrorist in the world and eliminate him. Hanley and his partners, Alan Newton, and Vladimir Vadim track the Assassin to his safe house in the Alborz Mountains north of Tehran. Hanley, Vadim, and Newton are successful in entering Iran undetected. Their effective use of explosives causes an avalanche that almost destroys the Assassins safe house. Suspicions are the Assassin was involved with the Iranians Presidents plan to destroy Israel. Iran had developed high powered microwave weapon that would kill all living things exposed to the blast but would only cause minimal property damage. Israels new X-brand missile radar system had to be compromised with Irans new non-nuclear electromagnetic pulse warhead for up to thirty minutes so that 56-Iranian missiles could be fired into Israel from Syria and Jordan. Hanley, Vadim, and Newton are unable to stop the missile attack on Israel. The blasts from the war heads eradicate most of the living beings in Israel. The world was in turmoil but no country wanted to deal with Iran. The invading troops had the country to themselves including the mounds of dead bodies they had to deal with.

From Complex to Simple

release date: Aug 24, 2018
From Complex to Simple
This book presents simple interdisciplinary stochastic models meant as a gentle introduction to the field of non-equilibrium statistical physics. It focuses on the analysis of two-state models with cooperative effects, which are versatile enough to be applied to many physical and social systems. The book also explores a variety of mathematical techniques to solve the master equations that govern these models: matrix theory, empty-interval methods, mean field theory, a quantum approach, and mapping onto classical Ising models. The models discussed are at the confluence of nanophysics, biology, mathematics, and the social sciences and provide a pedagogical path toward understanding the complex dynamics of particle self-assembly with the tools of statistical physics.
