Thomas McKenney was named in 1824 the Chief of the Bureau of Indian Affairs. His Memoirs, "official and personal" described in the book written in 1846, contain important information regarding the history of the United States, commissions to treat with the Native Indians, vivid descriptions of his travels and speeches. This is a professional reproduction of the book published in 1847 (Volumes I and II).
