Grimm's Fairy Stories
From "Dummling and the Three Feathers": Once upon a time there lived a King who had three sons; the two elder were learned and bright, but the youngest said very little and appeared somewhat foolish, so he was always known as Dummling. When the King grew old and feeble, feeling that he was nearing his end, he wished to leave the crown to one of his three sons, but could not decide to which. He thereupon settled that they should travel, and that the one who could obtain the most splendid carpet should ascend the throne when he died. So that there could be no disagreement as to the way each one should go, the King conducted them to the courtyard of the Palace, and there blew three feathers, by turn, into the air, telling his sons to follow the course that the three feathers took. Then one of the feathers flew eastwards, another westwards, but the third went straight up towards the sky, though it only sped a short distance before falling to earth.

Fairy Tales Book 5 Minutes Fairy tales Hans In Luck (Grimm's Fairy Tales) Abridged Fairy Tales For Children Fairy Tales Book
Fairy Tales Book "Hans in Luck" is a fairy tale of Germanic origin, recorded by the Brothers Grimm. Fairy Tales Book Hans was a faithful and honest servant and his master granted him a piece of gold. Hans was however not satisfied. This piece was too heavy to carry around all the time. So he traded it for a horse. Then he got tired of the horse as well and traded it for a goose. The story repeated itself several times. And in the end, he found himself with stones. Did he outwit everyone or he actually did not realize how much he lost? Fairy Tales Book Hans in Luck has been described as an ironic fairy tale that inverts the normal "rags to riches" story format. Instead, it can be interpreted as anti-materialistic as Hans trades in his newly won treasures and expresses relief to be freed from the weight to return home happily. It can also be set apart from many other folks and fairy tales as it avoids romantic themes such as damsels and princesses; instead of focusing upon maternal love as Hans is returning home to see his mother. Fairy Tales Book Hans has been working hard for seven years but wishes to return to see his poor mother. His master pays him his wages which amounts to a lump of gold the size of his head. Hans puts the gold in a handkerchief and starts out on his journey jogging but soon becomes tired. He spots a rider on horseback and seeing the ease at which the horse travels he offers to exchange his lump of gold for the horse. Happy with the exchange, the man gives him the horse and Hans rides off. Next to a forest, there lived a couple of very poor woodcutters and siblings. The brother was named Hansel and the younger sister was named Gretel. In order to prevent the family of four from starving to death, the stepmother and father discussed that they would take the children to the forest and throw them away. For the first time, his brother Hansel left a small stone on the way to the forest and was able to find his way home. The second time I was not so lucky. My brother was unable to go out to pick up rocks, so he had to use the remaining bread to tear into pieces as a mark.

release date: Jan 23, 2010
The Brothers Grimm Fairy Tales - 1st Edition
Once upon a time, two brothers wished to preserve their German folklore in a collection of tales that they believed had been handed down for generations. When they began in 1812 they had just 86 stories that rather harshly reflected the difficult life of European peasantry. Subsequent editions would grow to hold over 200 tales. As time passed, the Brothers Grimm found that their collection of fairy tales, with all of its royalty, magical creatures, and brave adventures, entranced those who read them. This compilation of fairy tales which includes the complete canon of over 200 tales has become a beloved set of classical stories the world over. Presented here in this edition is the faithful translation of Margaret Hunt.
