Above All

release date: Nov 15, 2024
Above All
Above All is an extensive exploration and expansion of the themes found in Psalm 22. This psalm delves into the deep connection Christ had with God at his birth, the apparent betrayal he experienced during his earthly mission, and the glorious outcomes that arise from his suffering. The author skillfully combines references from both the Old Testament and New Testament along with her creative imagination to craft a narrative about God''s loving purpose for humanity, the plan for redemption from the fall, and, above all, the fulfillment of that redemption. Above All also offers insights into the reasons behind the wicked and terrible events that occur daily in the world and provides an explanation for why God does not always intervene. The story commences by imagining the thoughts of Jesus while he is on the cross at Calvary, and it places the reader in the role of a spectator, allowing them to witness what Jesus perceives, experiences, and does, starting from his time in the Garden of Gethsemane to the following three days after his crucifixion. "Above All: A Special Meditation and Reflection on Psalm 22" is a brilliant novel that fuses scripture in the Old and New Testament and presents a story of purpose and redemption for man. "Above All: A Special Meditation and Reflection on Psalm 22" is the creation of published author Susan L. Bailey, MD, a physician practicing internal medicine in Rochester, New York. After 36 years of practicing full-time, she has retired from the hospital and sees a small number of patients in her private practice. Her favorite pastimes are traveling, sewing vintage clothing, watching sermons on YouTube, and enjoying time with friends and family in her lakeside home. She attends church service regularly on Sundays and enjoys discussing the Word of God with people from many walks of life and on many levels. She is comfortable explaining the biblical text to those who don''t know the character of God or who Jesus is, and she is energized by discussions with seasoned religious leaders alike. She especially likes to help new believers learn how to trust the Word of God to become relevant for use in their personal journeys by relying on the counselor Jesus refers to in the book of John.

Nisha tries to persuade Baba they need a big tree to fit the new ornaments from India. She''ll even help pull the wagon! But Baba still insists on a small tree. So when Baba and Nisha surprisingly agree on the same tree, she suddenly isn''t sure about it. Is the tree they both like big or small? In the end, the tree is the perfect size--for the ornaments, for their apartment, and for sharing Christmas cookies and silvery burfi. Nisha''s Just-Right Christmas Tree captures a familiar Christmas tradition through charming text and illustrations. Based on a true story from author Jaya Mehta''s childhood, the book beautifully demonstrates a blend of cultures between Nisha''s father, who is Hindu, and her mother, who is Christian, as they celebrate Christmas together in their Brooklyn Heights apartment. If We Could Get a Dog...
If We Could Get a Dog…Henry Finds His Forever Home By: Susan Lynn Ford Many animals need homes, but also many pets are not properly cared for and some people don’t seem to take into account the commitment it requires to take care of a pet throughout its life. If We Could Get a Dog…Henry Finds His Forever Home is about adopting a dog, and all the preparation, thought, consideration, and work that goes into that decision. This story is easily read by a child of eight years old and up, but also can be read to younger children by their parents. Emily’s story is entertaining but can also help initiate important discussions about getting a pet before taking that step. People should not have a pet without the love and commitment it requires to truly give a pet a good home. Many pets find “forever” homes that are loving and safe. “With its timely and timeless message that people should not have a pet without the love and commitment it requires to truly give a pet a good home, "If We Could Get a Dog" is upbeat and inspiring with another message for young readers -- Many pets find "forever" homes that are loving and safe, and theirs could be one of those homes.” – The Midwest Book Review

Now she shares it with everyone. This charming collection of children''s poetry is complemented by fanciful illustrations portraying the treasures of everyday life. Beguiling rhymes and pictures transport young readers to the world of secret wonders hidden in plain sight all around. There are raccoons and even bandy-legged chickens emerging from their shells. You can never tell what whimsical idea will be found next in A Gift from Grandma. These poems were written by the illustrator''s grandmother, Susan Lynn Gould, who was born in 1898. She was a classic Texas plainswoman, the prairie of that time being not far removed from the Wild West. A farm girl armed only with a grade school education and unshakable faith, she braved the rigors of the dustbowl and the Great Depression. She raised four vibrant daughters and never abandoned her sense of whimsy. After World War II, she opened a successful cafe and finally began to express her reverence for life''s ordinary treasures in poetry she gifted to her children and grandchildren. She passed away in 1971, but her poetry lingers like the afterglow of sunset. Illustrator Toni Verkruysse has illustrated other children''s books and wrote the science fiction novel Pale As Hope. My grandmother''s poems have bewitched me since youngest childhood. It was always my plan to one day paint the pictures they conjured in my mind.
