Thank You for My Service

release date: Aug 20, 2019
Thank You for My Service
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The unapologetic, laugh-your-ass-off military memoir both vets and civilians have been waiting for, from a five-tour Army Ranger turned YouTube phenomenon and zealous advocate for veterans Members of the military’s special operations branches share a closely guarded secret: They love their jobs. They relish the opportunity to fight. They are thankful for it, even, and hopeful that maybe, possibly, they’ll also get to kill a bunch of bad guys while they’re at it. You don’t necessarily need to thank them for their service—the pleasure is all theirs. In this hilarious and personal memoir, readers ride shotgun alongside former Army Ranger and private military contractor and current social media phenomenon Mat Best, into the action and its aftermath, both abroad and at home. From surviving a skin infection in the swampy armpit of America (aka Columbus, Georgia) to kicking down doors on the outskirts of Ramadi, from blowing up a truck full of enemy combatants to witnessing the effects of a suicide bombing right in front of your face, Thank You for My Service gives readers who love America and love the good guys fresh insight into what it’s really like inside the minds of the men and women on the front lines. It’s also a sobering yet steadying glimpse at life for veterans after the fighting stops, when the enemy becomes self-doubt or despair and you begin to wonder why anyone should be thanking you for anything, least of all your service. How do you keep going when something you love turns you into somebody you hate? For veterans and their friends and families, Thank You for My Service will offer comfort, in the form of a million laughs, and counsel, as a blueprint for what to do after the war ends and the real fight begins. And for civilians, this is the insider account of military life you won’t find anywhere else, told with equal amounts of heart and balls. It’s Deadpool meets Captain America, except one went to business school and one went to therapy, and it’s anyone’s guess which is which.

At Night She Cries, While He Rides His Steed

release date: Jun 09, 2015
At Night She Cries, While He Rides His Steed
At Night She Cries, While He Rides His Steed is a side-splitting satire that perfectly parodies romance novels and western dramas. Our hero, Saint James Street James is a tall, extremely muscular, 32-year-old man whose attributes and possessions include a mind stronger than Socrates on acid, a magnificent horse he loves more than anything in the world, a package so large that it requires a signature, a beautiful, passionate wife with a rack so perfect it belongs on a billiard table, a ton of children, and his own personal gold mine. His life, set in 1849 against the backdrop of the California Gold Rush, is one long parade of amazing sex, dynamite montages, whiskey, and explosive gunfights. The kinds of things men could do when men were actually men. He is the richest man in town—equal parts loved and feared by all. But when the Schläger Brothers come to town, so too comes the end of the good times. St. James is forced to defend everything that matters to him (including, but not limited to: prostitutes, his horse, money, and drugs. Oh, and his wife and children too, sort of). God help anyone who stands in his way.

Born Out of Sin

release date: Dec 31, 2013
Born Out of Sin
Born out of Sin takes you on a journey from adolescence to adulthood through the connections one makes, which form the ideas one now lives by. Born out of Sin is an eye-opener to the cruelty that exists all around us from the neighborhood dealer to the government dictators, from incapable parenting of one''s mother or father or elected politicians who fail to protect our rights. Born out of Sin offers a look into many aspects of our lives from parenting neglect to being victimized and provides guidance on how to overcome life''s ups and downs through communication and spiritual guidance. Drawing wisdom from Psalm 51:5, "Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me," Willie B. Ross Patterson provides insight on the effect of parents'' mentality and suffering on children''s behavior. Many are on welfare and live in poverty. Some are afraid of stepping forward to better themselves whereas some are pleased with their living of government assistance. They fight among the haters and seek to be loved by someone rather than giving self-love to better their lives and family. Born out of Sin examines the forces that bring about poverty and crime. Many are addictive to negative lifestyles from hanging with the same group of people and are overwhelmed by fear of breaking away from what they''ve always known. Willie could have been trapped by her circumstances, but she sought God throughout her trials and discovered the hope to be found despite the burdens she had from birth. Find peace and overcome the shackles Born out of Sin.
