Surviving Documents of the Widow's Son

release date: Jan 01, 2018
Surviving Documents of the Widow's Son
This volume is created as a part of "A Seat of Knowledge Series," to further the good cause of Masonry, as the information contained herein is of primary importance to Masonic research. The documents herein were compiled with the purpose of easing the burden of study. To assist with readability, this book is a reproduction of the originals with editorial work, 12 pt. font, which includes illustrations. There are no interpretations, considerations or footnotes offered for a reason. The reader is left to interpret according to their knowledge and education in Freemasonry. The documents are listed in order of date; however, the Halliwell MS as the prominent is listed first. Due to the Royal change in 1714, many of the Masonic records and manuscripts were either removed and spirited away or destroyed by the incoming or outgoing Royal House. There is no definitive answer to what happened to the existing documents during that time. The Hanoverians looked upon the Masons as a dangerous rival political force, yet the popularity of the Lodges made their suppression difficult. Their solution was to create a rival "official" Masonry, and so, in 1717, members of the aristocracy loyal to the new King created what they called a "Grand Lodge" claiming authority and control over all Masons everywhere, and declaring that without a charter from them, they were not Masons and they could not meet! Naturally, this did not sit well with the various lodges so Rival "Grand Lodges" were formed, the so-called "immemorial" lodges refused to surrender authority to the London Grand Lodge, and the practice of "making" and "unmaking" Masons of various allegiances was begun. That is why there is that language about "irregular lodges" in the Third-degree obligation. In the study of the pre-1688 documents, the astute researcher will recognize the "then and now" of Freemasonry. Surviving Documents predating the fire of London in 1666 and the 1688 revolution of England after the Hanoverian House took the reigns of monarchy from the Royal Stuart''s Family of Scotland are also included. The Origins of Freemasonry by Bro. Thomas Paine has also been included at the end of the documents. We hereby begin with an essay on the old Charges by Brother Robert Gould.

Developing Essential Understanding of Statistics for Teaching Mathematics in Grades 9-12

release date: Jan 01, 2013
Developing Essential Understanding of Statistics for Teaching Mathematics in Grades 9-12
How does a statistical model differ from a mathematical model? What are the differences among the sample distribution, the sampling distribution, and the population distribution? In an experiment, what effect does the sampling method have on the results? What are the implications of the use of processes of random selection and random assignment? Can a small sample yield accurate estimates of population parameters? This book examines five big ideas and twenty-four related essential understandings for teaching statistics in grades 9–12. The authors distinguish mathematical and statistical models, explore distributions as descriptions of variability in data, focus on the fundamentals of testing hypotheses to draw conclusions from data, highlight the importance of the data collection method, and recognise the need to examine bias, precision, and sampling method in evaluating statistical estimators. Recognising that analysing data is an important part of understanding the world, the authors discuss the growth of students’ ideas about statistics and examine challenges to teaching, learning, and assessment. They intersperse their discussion with questions for teachers’ reflection.

Leonardo

release date: Sep 15, 2009
Leonardo
The eighth action-packed installment in a series about a young team of time travelers, this narrative continues to utilize the highly visual "movie-book" format that has proven to engage reluctant readers. Recognizing the image of a man they''ve seen in previous time-jumps, the Time Soldiers become keenly interested in a Leonardo da Vinci sketch they see hanging in a local museum. Attached to the portrait is a note alluding to the glowing green stones and a danger that surrounds them, but the key information is lost due to a tear in the note. Traversing back to the Renaissance era to find da Vinci, the adventurers work to discover the truth about these dark dangers and the mysterious traveling man before it is too late. Offering an increased word count from previous selections in the series, this tale utilizes a stealth literacy approach to improving the reading abilities of disinclined students.

Partners

release date: May 15, 2006
Partners
In seventh grade a close friend of mine, Chanel Brossett, told me she wanted to be a cop. She was joking, but she gave me the idea to write Partners. I got to thinking about what the world would be like if some of my friends were cops and some were crooks. Partners starts off as a bank robbery, which leads to so much more. Partners will take you on the adventure of a group of law enforcers out to avenge the murder of one of their own. They will encounter numerous obstacles and several set backs. It''s a story of determination, revenge and other drama that comes in between. Surprisingly, the ending of this book is only the beginning. Leo Mondaca is not a man to be messed with, but unfortunately the good guys don''t know this. Their quest to take Leo down will prove to be very hard and could eventually back fire on them. Leo is the biggest drug dealer and smuggler in Texas and the most powerful man in Dallas and he''s about to attempt to change Dallas'' history forever. Daniel Ramos and his crew are heading to Dallas and they are about to join forces with Leo to create a deadly force. Robert is a Texas Ranger. He and a small group of his allies will have to do everything in their power to take down their foes. They will be the only thing standing between Leo and Daniel and their dream of becoming the biggest drug dealers in the world. Drugs only play a minor role in Partners; the real story is a lot more complicated. Partners is full of mystery, denial, betrayal, speed and a whole lot of action, and yet this is merely the beginning. Eventually the whole story will be told, this is the story of Partners. *Dedicated to Mrs. Jackson, my seventh grade English teacher
