release date: May 22, 2025
The York Cap Of Maintenance [by R. Davies]
“The York Cap of Maintenance†by R. Davies delves into a specific artifact and its historical context within the broader tapestry of British history. This detailed study sheds light on the cap''s significance as a symbol of authority and its role in various ceremonial and social events. Davies meticulously explores the cap''s origins, evolution, and the individuals associated with it, providing a rich understanding of its place in the medieval and post-medieval periods. Readers will find a compelling narrative that not only examines the physical object but also unpacks the social, political, and cultural meanings embedded within it. Davies connects the cap to key historical events and figures, making it a valuable resource for anyone interested in British history, social customs, and the symbolic power of objects. The Alchemist and the Magician
ABSTRACT:At the heart of Quality Assurance is Qualia, Man''s ability to understand one other as a species. Understanding the customer requirements of a product or service requires empathy. This thesis will explain how quality assurance activities permit laboratory professionals to work together as a community within complex healthcare systems, understand the voice of the customer and through knowledge, meet customer requirements.A questionnaire was utilized to obtain information from medical laboratory professionals employed in Canada. Four psychometric instruments were used to determine if: (a) Autistic personality types are prevalent, (b) Machiavellian personality types are prevalent and, (c) determine the cultural characteristics of the workforce. Different personality styles point to learning system archetypes in the human brain. A neurocognitive model called the Triadic Adaptive Learning System (TALiS) is proposed. A vision for humanity, called The Quality System of Goodness, is presented. This cybernetic system is supported by the ethics, science and philosophy of Integral Permaculture. Opportunities for further research are discussed.

Baldwin of the Times

release date: Oct 15, 2011
Baldwin of the Times
Hanson W. Baldwin was America’s best-known military writer and analyst in the 20th century covering conflicts from World War II to the Vietnam War. He was the military editor of the New York Times for forty years and his dispatches from Guadalcanal and the Western Pacific won him a Pulitzer Prize in 1943.This first biography of this Naval Academy graduate begins with an appreciation of the human and literary values learned from his Baltimore newspaper family. His midshipman years, 1920-1924, taught him the value of concentration. After three years of active service, he chose the life of a professional writer. A few days before the 1929 stock market crash, he joined the New York Times as a reporter. His career was advanced by the patronage of the Times publisher and by the talk of another European war in 1937. He won a Pulitzer Prize in 1943 for his Guadalcanal series. After 1945, he thought the atomic bomb to be of limited use on the battlefield as well as in the politics of the Cold War. His news scoops upset many but were in keeping with his determination to tell his readers what its government was doing. His continuing criticism of Secretary McNamara’s management of the Vietnam War and the Times management’s annoyance with his pro-war position contributed to his decision to retire in March 1968. Later, he could only observe and to complain over the decline of American values and its harmful effects on the military. After his retirement he continued to write articles on military affairs for the news columns and Op-Ed page of the New York Times.

Midlands Canals

release date: Jul 15, 2006
Midlands Canals
This illustrated volume is exceptionally researched. Robert Davies has compiled interviews with boat people and the people who worked the inland waterways during the final decades of commercial canal carrying, capturing the flavour of this era. Often whole families worked on the great boats and lived in the tiny cabins at the back. Among the people interviewed are those who worked the narrow canals from London through the Midlands, to Stoke on Trent and Middlewich, and people who worked for big companies such as Grand Union Canal Carrying Co., as well as for the little George and Mathews. The book spans the 1930s-''60s, a time when transport technology saw huge changes, and looks issues such as the operating of ice boats and the use of horse power as well as the experiences of the people themselves.
