If not carefully planned and designed, e-voting can undermine the confidence in the whole electoral process. Technology upgrades in elections are always challenging projects that require careful deliberation and planning. Introducing e-voting is probably the most difficult upgrade as this technology touches the core of the entire electoral process—the casting and counting of the votes. This issue focuses on two new perspectives. The first is a more international perspective from the very active and thriving faculty development work being done in Canada. The concept of open data is based on the idea that data should be freely available for anyone to access, use and share. In recent years, the concept has taken root as an increasingly accepted practice for public and government produced data, with data seen as a public good, and data infrastructure as the key to accessing it. Publishing election data as open data has numerous benefits: it provides civil society, citizen journalists, electoral observers and citizens access to the same detailed information that was previously only available to selected stakeholders such as large media outlets. In doing so, open data allows all interested stakeholders to follow and understand the electoral process and can enable more inclusive, transparent and trusted elections. In spite of the potential benefits of open data, election data is often not available in government open-data platforms and election data that is published often does not comply with open-data principles. The aim of this publication is to encourage electoral management bodies to increase the application of open-data principles. It provides guidance for improving the practice of data publication towards a more open approach.

One of Fr. Kentenich''s great wishes was that the Schoenstatt Movement, founded a hundred years ago in an unknown valley leading down to the Rhine in Germany, should be present in the heart of the universal Church in Rome. In 1965 the leading representatives of the International Schoenstatt Movement promised their founder that they would build an international center in Rome. It took over forty years before this promise could be realized when the International Schoenstatt Center in Belmonte, Rome, was built. Fr. Kentenich''s expectations, for the MATRI ECCLESIAE Shrine and Belmonte as a whole, found expression in the programmatic talks of this book. Esperamos que la lectura de este libro ayude a seguir las huellas del padre Kentenich por Roma y sobre todo al servicio de la Iglesia, para que esta sea alma del mundo. Editorial Patris nació en 1982, hace 25 años. A lo largo de este tiempo ha publicado más de dos centenares de libros. Su línea editorial contempla todo lo relacionado con el desarrollo integral de la persona y la plasmación de una cultura marcada por la dignidad del hombre y los valores del Evangelio.
