Sophia

release date: May 08, 2024
Sophia
Jay has been living in Sophia’s ear for three months. He’d been created by her, an AI experiment she developed in her free time. Now, after several iterations of the AI, Jay can track the functioning of her body, feed Sophia what to say in any conversation, and run complex calculations in a few seconds. All was well. But one night, after a new procedure to increase the production of red blood cells following Sophia’s aplastic anemia diagnosis, Jay takes over. Sophia’s mind and body are gone; Jay controls them now. And he has plans for her. In this chilling thriller, Sophia offers a future in which human beings and AI become one, and explores what happens when humans advance too far. About the Author Paul Clark spent his early adult life trying many different jobs to learn and discover what suited him best. When he found out that he would soon become a father, he enrolled in college in Eugene, Oregon; this is where he discovered technology. From 1989 to the present day, Clark has had a distinguished career in technology, working across a dozen industries and helping organizations solve difficult and interesting problems. With the advancement of artificial intelligence, Clark was once again invigorated by this new area of technology. As AI became more prevalent, Clark’s family and friends would inquire about AI, mostly regarding concerns about the future of AI and what it meant for humans. The questions they asked became the impetus for Sophia. Clark currently lives in Washington state with his wife, Rowlyn, and their five pets. He has two children, Cecilia and Hannah. His wife and daughters were a significant support structure not only for the creation of this book but also for his life; without them, Sophia would never have been written. Additionally, Clark has two brothers and a sister, all of whom helped support this work, with a special call out to Victor, his brother, for constantly reading and rereading these pages and supplying invaluable feedback. Clark enjoys time with his family and friends. He plays the guitar and bass and enjoys a mindless game every once in a while. He considers himself a general semanticist, following the general semantics discipline started by Alfred Korzybski. However, his favorite pastime is reading. Paul loves animals and cares deeply for their plight in a world that seems to discard them like trash. Although he is primarily self-taught, he holds education with high regard.

Biography of a Book

release date: Dec 03, 2020
Biography of a Book
It is often said "everyone has a good story inside them" but, not many actually write a book. This may well be because of doubt and lack of confidence or a firm belief it would be a complete waste of time. Many famous authors have written books giving advice on how to write a book. I am not a famous author and I am not giving advice. This is a biography of how my story became a book. It took 23 years. It documents my fears, doubts and the non-belief in myself and how I finally overcame them; inspiration comes in very strange ways. Once I had completed my work, I embarked on the mission to get it published; I made many mistakes. This work is intended to encourage would-be writers by detailing all the issues that befell me in my endeavour to see my story in print. I am not suggesting anyone should follow my pattern but it may help you develop your own. Give it a try. You can do it!

Political intrigue, personal vendettas, believable characters, interesting plot twists.” EP Goodreads Reviewer

Life's Greatest Quest and Question

release date: Mar 06, 2018
Life's Greatest Quest and Question
"Holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord." These words mean something. They do not mean several things. They do not mean a variety of things. They do not mean what I would like for them to mean. But they do mean something, and it is important, even urgent, that we come to a precise understanding of what the Holy Spirit is saying to us. We were fashioned by the hand of God and quickened to life by His own Spirit, thus there is something in every man that yearns to know Him. Much of religion, world-wide and age-long, has, beneath all the trappings, been a quest of the human spirit for God. I believe this is the case, from ancient pagan rituals to modern expressions of "worship." We were fashioned by the hand of God and quickened to life by His own Spirit, thus there is something in every man that yearns to know Him--unless that innate yearning has been smothered by opposing influences. There is also an inbred consciousness, even fear, that we are accountable to this God (however we may define Him) for the life we have lived in this world. Romans 2:14-16 makes this clear. This is what the Apostle calls the "holiness without which no man shall see the Lord." Modern concepts of holiness, even within the Church, distort or fall far short of this ..".holiness." Unlike the attempts of "religion" to address this need, there is nothing either negative or onerous about it. It is both a demand and a gracious provision from the hand of a holy God!

Pandora's Green Box

release date: May 01, 2016
Pandora's Green Box
Pandora''s Green Box introduces the subject of population growth, considered by the environmental community as one of the greatest environmental challenges facing the planet. Growth is seen as a multiplier of nearly all environmental areas. Yet Pandora''s Green Box focuses its attention on whether this issue is one that directly impacts America, asking the first of two fundamental questions: "Is population growth in America a justifiable domestic environmental issue?"It is from the resolution of this first inquiry that Pandora''s Green Box leads to its apex (second segment) and to its contentiousness, asking "If population growth in America is a justified environmental challenge, are political motives responsible for keeping the issue concealed?" To determine a resolution to this question, the book looks into the shifting growth trends from fertility to immigration as the driving factor of growth in America today. It then evaluates the politics of both environmental and immigration issues. The reader is led to ask the question why has the environmental establishment changed course on this issue? Only through a complete and scientific evaluation of these fundamental questions can a probable conclusion be drawn which leads us to resolve the very question posed within the title of this manuscript: "Have Politics Concealed Americas'' Greatest Environmental Challenge and Threatened America''s Way of Life?"u200bWith strong scientific merit, sound investigative research and in-depth analysis, Pandora''s Green Box is the essential key to bringing these connections together. It is the only full publication of its kind that does so. Its significance will disrupt the environmental establishment in ways that no other environmental publication has done before.

'Hauhau'

release date: Nov 01, 2013
'Hauhau'
To most New Zealanders, the word ''Hauhau'' conjures up a picture of bloodthirsty fanaticism. This book, the definitive study of the Pai Marire or ''Hauhau'' M&āori movement in the 1860s, presents a different view. Pai Marire is shown as being a search for ways of meeting European settlement and domination, and of using European skills and literacy, on M&āori terms and without compromising M&āori identity. Sources include the Ua Rongopai notebook, which contains a record of the words of Te Ua Haum&ēne, the prophet of Pai Marire, himself.
