Nach seinem umfangreichen Werk über Gemüsesorten ("Tender - Obst", ID-B 45/12) folgt nun ein ebenso umfangreiches Werk über 22 Obstsorten, deren Anbau und Verwertung. Am Anfang stehen Gartentipps zur Anpflanzung, womit man am besten beginnt und Anmerkungen, worauf man beim Kauf von fruchttragenden Bäumen, Sträuchern und Pflanzen achten soll, damit der Ertrag möglichst gross ist. Bei den rund 300 Rezepten geht es von von herzhaft bis sü, ︢ englische Besonderheiten inklusive (Rhabarber wird auch als Gemüse als Beilage zu Schweinebraten gesehen), von Äpfeln bis hin zu Weintrauben. Am Schluss jedes Kapitels gibt es eine Auflistung, was alles noch zu der entsprechenden Frucht passt. Die Rezepte sind schnörkellos und, wie eine Kochprobe ergab (Hähnchen mit Staudensellerie, Trauben und Kapern), richtig lecker. Teilweise gibt es auch noch lyrische Passagen der Güteklasse "Ahornsirup, der flüssige Bernstein der Küche" dazu. Wieder gern, trotz des Preises, empfohlen. (2)
