But don’t worry, reading this book isn’t all for nothing, because sometimes nothing is actually something. Like if you pick up all the toys in your room, what will be on the floor? NOTHING. When you take a bath, what are you wearing? NOTHING. And when you shut the lights off to go to bed, what do you see? NOTHING. Build the Swing of a Lifetime

release date: Apr 17, 2012
Build the Swing of a Lifetime
From one of Golf Digest''s Top 5 teachers—a simple, scientific program to build a great swing Most golf instruction is based on helping students emulate the best players, but for top golf teacher Mike Bender, physics provides a better model for developing a swing that is as efficient, consistent, and timeless as that of Iron Byron, the PGA robot that tests clubs and balls. Now Mike Bender shows you how to put the secrets of science into your own swing with a simple, proven program that will take your play to a different level and transform your approach to the game. Explains Mike Bender''s unique biomechanical approach to building a simple, repeatable, and effective swing Shares the same approach Bender teaches his students, who include two-time U.S. Open winner Lee Janzen, PGA Tour winner Jonathan Byrd, and 2006 LPGA Tour Rookie of the Year Seon Hwa Lee Shows you how to build your scientific swing step by step Includes 150 photographs to help you put principles into practice on the golf course Includes a Foreword by Zach Johnson, 2007 Masters champion and one of Mike Bender''s star students As Mike Bender puts it: would you rather fly in an airplane that was built by engineers who understood the principles of lift and acceleration, or would you rather fly in one built by people who simply went out to the airport and watched them taking off and landing? Once you develop a scientific swing, it''s your own game that will really soar.

Awkward Family Pet Photos
The authors of the New York Times bestseller Awkward Family Photos are back with a hilarious tribute to the unbreakable and sometimes uncomfortable bond between people and their pets. There are few things more rewarding than having a pet. They love us unconditionally, shower us with attention, and because of them, we actually live longer. So, what can possibly be awkward about our animal BFFs? Well . . . nothing. In fact, we’re the awkward ones. We adore our pets, but let’s face it—sometimes L-O-V-E makes us go a little overboard. Like giving them middle names, throwing them elaborate birthday parties, and making them a Christmas sweater to match with the rest of the family. Truth is, what they cherish most is our companionship. And maybe that’s the reason we care about them so much—because for such simple pleasures, they allow us to be as awkward as we want.

Model Development for the Prediction of Sediment Entrainment During Open-cut Pipeline Water Crossing Construction

release date: Jan 01, 2002
Model Development for the Prediction of Sediment Entrainment During Open-cut Pipeline Water Crossing Construction
"An empirical approach was used to develop equations for predicting peak and average water column TSS concentrations downstream of open-cut pipeline water crossings during various phases of construction (trenching, pipe lowering and backfilling). Models for predicting peak and average TSS concentration for the entire period of construction were also developed. After a basic sediment entrainment model was derived, coefficient values were obtained using a multiple regression analysis of field data collected during the open-cut construction of pipeline water crossings across western Canada and mid-western United States. Coefficients of regression, differences between predicted and measured TSS concentrations, and results of sensitivity and uncertainty analyses were used to evaluate the predicted peak and average TSS concentrations downstream of the crossing. ... Field Study of Sediment Entrainment: ... A field study was conducted at Serviceberry Creek on August 31, 1999 to measure sediment entrainment downstream of simulated trench excavation and backfilling. The goals of the field study were to: 1) identify and describe the physical processes responsible for the entrainment of sediment during construction; and, 2) compare sediment entrainment and transport characteristics for various construction techniques and activities under controlled conditions" -- leaf i.
