"The mtrix converter (MC) has been subject of research since 1980 and with the constant improvement of power electronic semiconductors along with the microelectronics it is now possible to efficiently and reiably implement such a topology.The MC finds its application wherever bidirectional power flow and controlled voltage and current in AC systems is needed and proves to be superior to its competitors when applied in certain specific environments and circumstances. Wind energy conversion systems (WECS) are a recent growing research topic where MC is found to be promisingly more efficient as power electronic controller. The WECS generator technology chosen to study is the Doubly fed Induction Generator (DFIG) and the MC type to drive it is the Indirect Matrix Converter (IMC); due to novelty of an IMC usage to control a DFIG and due to the IMC small size construction, its capacity to provide bidirectional power flow under high temperatures and its longer useful life due to its lack of significant reactive components".

En terminales de salida de las fuentes de potencia de CA, uno de los parámetros de desempeño que se requiere optimizar es el THD del voltaje. En esta tesis, se plantea minimizar el THD mediante técnicas de modulación de ancho de pulso con inyección de armónicas, y en especial se plantea obtener la mayor disminución del contenido de 3ra, 5ta y 7ma armónica en la salida de un filtro paso bajo conectado a un inversor de voltaje porque son las armónicas generadas por las máquinas eléctricas y electrónicas comúnmente usadas en la industria. Lo anterior se pretende implementar en tiempo real y bajo un control de lazo cerrado usando dos microcontroladores de Freescale Semiconductor (Motorola), modelo MC68HC16Z1CFC16, para garantizar la calidad de la energía a la salida de la fuente. Uno de estos microcontroladores realiza la adquisición y procesamiento del contenido armónico del voltaje a la salida de la fuente de potencia para enviarle al otro los parámetros necesarios para generar el patrón de disparos HIPWM correspondiente para contrarrestar la distorsión armónica total presente. Explicaciones detalladas sobre los temas relacionados con esta tesis son expuestas a lo largo de las secciones de los capítulos así como una serie de figuras y tablas con correspondientes simulaciones y resultados para su mejor comprensión.
