Dogwood Dilemmas

release date: Feb 26, 2017
Dogwood Dilemmas
Snowmageddon. Boston has reached the snowiest winter on record, and Sutton, Massachusetts isn''t far behind. Morgan takes an April''s Fools opportunity to document winter at its peak with her trusty Holga film camera. Made of plastic, using 120-format large film, a Holga is an exercise in mindfulness. Its plastic lens brings the fjord-like crevasses in the giant snow pile by the post office to life. And then she sees what''s inside. Morgan''s drawn into yet another mystery, this one set against the backdrop of Purgatory Chasm and Lake Quinsigamond, the Quabbin Reservoir and Ramshorn Pond. Through it all, with the support of her friends and Jason, she seeks a path of truth and peace. All author''s proceeds of this series benefit battered women''s shelters. Dogwood Dilemmas is the fourth novel in the award-winning Sutton Massachusetts Mystery series. All novels in the Sutton Massachusetts Mystery series are written in a boots-on-the-ground, chapter-a-day format. On April 1st, author Lisa Shea went to the parking lot of the Sutton Post Office, and then that evening she wrote up the actual sights and sounds of that visit. That was Chapter One. The same process held true for each subsequent day and location. By April 30th the book was laid out. Each book captures a moment in time; as a whole the series shows the progression of events, news, and nature in Sutton over the years. Lisa has lived in Sutton for over two decades and strives to craft stories which transport readers to her beautiful town. She offers a glimpse into Sutton''s combination of centuries-old history and a modern, sliced-through-by-a-busy-highway existence. Lisa visits the actual locations mentioned in the story, experiences the atmosphere, and then infuses those rich colors, trilling bird-songs, and pungent fragrances into her story in a richly descriptive manner reminiscent of Annie Dillard''s Pilgrim at Tinker Creek. Then toss in an ample seasoning of local culinary delights, and this is the world of the Sutton Massachusetts Mystery Series!

In the Pines

release date: Jan 30, 2015
In the Pines
Naomi Jackson never thought her life would come to this. She''d been abandoned by the father of her two children. Stranded during the last days of 1809 in a ramshackle stream-side home in rural Tennessee. But here she was. The Devil Bill Williams had vanished. Now it was up to her to care for her two innocent, beautiful children. God had already given her so much. She knew that David Oxendine was honor-bound to return south to care for his father. To return to the life he had sworn to care for. But where did that leave her? * * * Across the River - an 1800s Black / Native American Novella is the second in a series of novellas about Naomi Jackson''s heartfelt, challenging life. These stories are based loosely on author Lisa Shea''s real-life ancestor, Naomi Jackson, who was born in 1784 in Guilford County, North Carolina. Naomi''s father had been taken from Northern Ireland as a child, while her mother was mixed-blood black, Lumbee, and Irish. Each novella has a cliff-hanger ending, much like Naomi''s life. All author''s proceeds from the Naomi Jackson series benefits local battered women''s shelters. An important note for readers of my various series. Normally my content is quite "clean" with little to no swearing, violence, or physical intimacy. With this being based on the immense hardships my ancestor struggled through, I wanted to be authentic to the issues she rose above. This book therefore includes period-appropriate harsh language as well as several scenes of conflict. I gave a great deal of thought to including these and feel they are necessary to fully convey the trials she overcame. I apologize to those who feel uncomfortable reading that style of material. Please feel free to contact me at my website if you have any questions or comments - I thrive on your feedback.

Haiku of the Great Blue Hill - Poetry and Watercolors of Massachusetts

release date: Dec 23, 2014
Haiku of the Great Blue Hill - Poetry and Watercolors of Massachusetts
Haiku. A crystalline drop of vision, delicately colored, conveying a pinpoint moment in time. Starting with its structure of five-seven-five syllables, its possibilities are endless. Meld that in with wet-on-wet watercolor, the very essence of patience and release of expectations, and you have a combination which inspires and soothes. Artist Lisa Shea provides seasonally-themed pairings of words and images which tantalize and delight. In each case she pondered the poem while sitting down with a six-inch by six-inch piece of watercolor paper. She then made one and only one pass at creating an image to go with that poem. There were no do-overs. There were no fixer-uppers. Just as in life, she took a deep breath, and began. The result was often swayed by water movement, air movement, and other factors far beyond her control. And that''s all right. The journey is what matters. Join Lisa on her journey, and share your thoughts on the results! * * * Haiku of the Great Blue Hill - Poetry and Watercolors of Massachusetts is Lisa''s first book of published poetry. Lisa has been writing poetry since she was a young girl. She has always adored the Japanese culture and ran a feudal Japan newsletter for ten years. While Lisa was born in Maryland, she has lived in Massachusetts, with two brief departures, for nearly the past thirty years. She adores its rolling hills, mossy forests, and serene coastlines. All author''s proceeds from Haiku of the Great Blue Hill benefit local battered women''s shelters. Lisa has written 40 fiction books, 78 non-fiction books, and 36 short stories. "Massachusetts" was the name of a Native American tribe which lived south of Boston. This name loosely translates to "Great Blue Hill" - referencing the blue granite rock of the Milton / Canton area.

Birch Blackguards - a Sutton Mass. Mystery

Birch Blackguards - a Sutton Mass. Mystery
Morgan''s life was settling into place with the gentle ease of a heron coming in for a landing on a still Massachusetts lake. Jason, the man she loved, was a serene presence in her world. Their evenings of kayaking on Manchaug Pond were the perfect counterpoint to her days writing and maintaining an online presence. The world was in balance. And then, in the shadowy depths behind Sutton''s long-abandoned drive-in, Morgan stumbles across a shallow grave holding the skeletal body of a young woman. How long had the girl lain there? Why had nobody reported her missing? The only clue to the girl''s identity is a beeswax Santa figurine, one of the first prototypes created by the artisans at Vaillancourt Folk Art. The trail delves into a world of prejudice and jealousy, of shattered dreams and lost hopes. Through it all, Morgan and Jason steadfastly hold to their vision - that they can at last bring justice and peace to this one girl''s memory. All proceeds benefit battered women''s shelters. "Birch Blackguards" is the winner of the 2013 IPPY Bronze Medal for Best Regional E-Book - East (covers everywhere east of the Mississippi River). "Birch Blackguards" is the second novel in the Sutton Massachusetts Mystery series. Book 1, "Aspen Allegations," was the winner of the 2013 IPPY Gold Medal for Best Regional E-Book - East. Book 3 is "Cedar Conundrums." All novels in the Sutton Massachusetts Mystery series are written in a boots-on-the-ground, chapter-a-day format. Author Lisa Shea goes to the locations, experiences the atmosphere, and then infuses those colors, birdsongs, and fragrances into her story in a manner reminiscent of Annie Dillard''s "Pilgrim at Tinker Creek."

Juicing / Smoothies Low Carb Recipes
We know the value of eating fresh, healthy food. We know how wonderful it is to pluck a fresh apple off a tree and to eat it without pesticides, without processing, and without added sugar. The philosophy of juicing and smoothies is to appreciate those natural flavors that exist all around us. Draw in the bounty of the nutrients and fiber that our world provides for our sustenance. It''s good both to incorporate natural foods into your daily diet and also to occasionally do a cleanse. A cleanse allows your body to free itself of allergens and toxins and to start fresh. It''s like rebooting your computer to cleanse out any memory issues which may have cropped up. Version Note: This is an early release of this smoothie / juicing ebook. It currently has 19 recipes in it. Please email me and let me know your favorite fruits and veggies. I will then create custom recipes using those flavors. I''ll both email them to you and add them to the book
