River Jordan

release date: Jan 01, 2015
River Jordan
Phoebe's life was moving as orderly as the recitation of prayers on a shimmering springtime evening. She was ready to leave the one-room bavith she had shared with her family since birth, at the outskirts of Jerusalem, to wed her betrothed. She would learn to love Joel, she was sure of it. All they needed was time. And then, strolling along the River Jordan with her young nephew, she came across a scene which would change her life. John the Baptist was talking with a man who radiated serenity. The visions seared her soul. A baptism - a dove - and a watching Roman legionnaire with steady eyes like a wolf's. When Joel grabbed her arm and scolded her for straying from her path, she had that sense. That sense that nothing would ever be the same. River Jordan is Book 1 of a gently cliff-hangered short story series. The sequence will lead up to a happily ever after ending. The series is clean romance and is suitable for teens and up. Half of all author's proceeds benefit battered women's shelters. I would love your input as I'm writing these - it's your suggestions which will help guide the direction the story moves in! If you prefer to read your stories complete, you are welcome to wait until the sequence is complete and then buy the box set. Either way, you support the cause!

Seeing a Ghost - a Medieval Romance
Alicia prayed that moving from Wales to Canterbury would help her escape the ghosts of her past. The ghost of her beloved Dylan who had been slain in the Crusades. She strove for a fresh start with her wood-working uncle and her treasured cousin, Ethelfleda - one of those special people who God allowed to remain child-like forever. Fate remained cruel. It had her seeing Dylan's face in every stranger she passed on the street. In every fellow parishioner at the Cathedral. Even in the faces of soldiers from the south of France. But Martinus was different from the others. Where most men would laugh at her heartache and leer over her curves, Martinus sought to ease the turmoil in her soul. Day by day, moment by moment, she found her agonizing pain finally easing. Until the day it all came undone ... Family Matters - a Compilation of Short Stories, Essays, Poetry, and Memories

release date: Dec 05, 2019
Family Matters - a Compilation of Short Stories, Essays, Poetry, and Memories
Family. In Spanish that's familia. In Italian, famiglia. In Irish it is teaghlaigh and in Polish it's rodzina. Throughout history, family has always been a complicated topic. It's that complexity which brings a family its joy and strength. There is of course the biologic construction of a family. A sperm meets an egg and their DNA mix randomly together. What results is a completely unique one-of-a-kind person. Even with identical twins there are subtle differences, because DNA tends to have mutations as it splits and grows, and because chemicals in the womb can sometimes impact one embryo more than another. No two people are ever alike. Birth mother, birth father, and child. A family is not just about these three specific individuals. There are in many cases full siblings, half-siblings, and step-siblings. There can be a range of aunts and uncles, grandmothers and grandfathers, stepparents and guardians. Sometimes this collection of people is wholly and full-heartedly supportive. At other times, with people being the unique individuals that they are, they can have their own views on life. And that's where the "chosen family" comes in. We always have the ability to choose and make our own family. We decide who we wish to fall in love with and spend our lives with. We choose to bring additional lives into our universe, whether it's by having biologic children, adopting children, forging connections with true friends of all ages, or any other combination of relationships. Family is about a cheerleading squad. It's about having the support you need to reach your goals. It's about knowing, when life gets you down, that a group of people are there to hold you tight and to help you back up on your feet again. Family is to be treasured. Enjoy this collection of poetry, essays, short stories, memories, photos, and drawings which celebrate the wondrous diversity which is family. Holiday Wishes - a Compilation of Short Stories, Essays, Poetry, and Memories
The wintry month of December has been a time of celebration since the earliest days of caves and campfires. As soon as humans could make sense of the phases of the moon and the wheeling of the stars, we treasured the Winter Solstice - the darkest day of the year. Many counted this period as the turning point for the entire cycle. Yule sprang from this date, as did the Chinese celebrations. When the Syrians attacked Jerusalem in 167BC, and the locals ably defended themselves, this added on yet another reason to cherish this time of year. In the Middle Ages, the Christian Church decided to assign the birth of Christ - an up-until-then unknown date probably happening in the spring or fall - to December 25th. The Christians felt the renewal of life and the Solstice were perfect symbols for the light Christ brought to the world. Add into that the Holy Day for Saint Nicholas, on December 6th. Saint Nick was a 300AD Bishop renowned for his generosity. He would secretly leave presents and gifts for the poor. In Dutch his name became Sinterklass, and the legend of Santa Claus was begun. For many, giving presents became a treasured part of the holiday. Our holiday collection includes short stories, poetry, essays, memories, and much more, all celebrating the myriad of ways in which we celebrate this precious time of year. We may use different names and emphasize different symbology, but together we all have the same core foundations - peace, love, and compassion for others. Happy Holidays. Special Providence - a Blackstone Valley Mystery Novelette
It had all come down to this. To something Tricia never saw coming.* * *Special Providence is the fifth novelette in the Blackstone Valley Mystery series. It is 116 pages / 16,000 words long. Each story in this series ends in a cliff-hanger, building up to the grand finale. You can choose to read the stories one-at-a-time or buy the finished book and read them in one fell swoop. I write these series in sections so my readers can chime in with suggestions and ideas along the way. Also, since I'm working on many series at once, it means readers can move forward without having to wait for the entire series to be complete to even begin. The stories are suitable for teens and up with no explicit adult language or situations. They are set in the beautiful Blackstone Valley region of central Massachusetts, carved out by the Blackstone River.A portion of my proceeds from this series benefits local battered women's shelters.I have lived in this region for over two decades. I adore the landscapes and beauty. I'm always open to feedback - drop me a line and share your thoughts!
