Self-Boring Pressuremeter in Pluvially Deposited Sands

release date: Jan 01, 1987
Self-Boring Pressuremeter in Pluvially Deposited Sands
This report presents the results of 47 self-boring pressure-meter tests (SBPT''s) performed in the ENEL-CRIS calibration chamber (CC). The tests were performed in dry and saturated Ticino and Hokksund sand. Pressuremeter tests were performed with the probe in-place during sample preparation (ideal installation) and with the probe self bored into the saturated sand. The purpose of the testing was to evaluate the performance of the self boring pressuremeter (SBP) probe under strictly controlled laboratory conditions and to critically review existing interpretation methods of the SBPT in sands. The SBP probe used in the study was the Camkometer Mark VIII manufactured by Cambridge In-situ Ltd., England.
