ENGLISH DESCRIPTION An exclusive collection of Jose Marti''s writings curated by Cuban author, Nestor Diaz de Villegas, including Marti''s thundering accounts of political imprisonment during his teens. José Martí: Estados Unidos en la Prosa de un Inmigrante is a compilation of fragments from "Scenes of North America," as well as writings by José Martí for La Opinión Nacional, a newspaper in Caracas, Venezuela, submitted between 1881 and 1886. All of these fragments are set within the historical and social context,to which they belong, and analyzed as literary texts written in Spanish while Marti was living in the United States. Marti chronicled sociopolitical events taking place in the United States at the turn of the 19th century. His writings thus offer detailed analysis of the scientific and technical discoveries taking place at the time, as well as his insights on cultural trends such as fashion, art, and social customs of the time. The historical events described by Marti find striking resonance in issues of the present day. He delves into issues of race, immigration, patriotism, identity, slavery, police and democracy, and even queer aestheticism, as well as providing unfliching observations regarding the figure and performance of the President of the United States and the democratic institutions of his time.

Este libro es una sucesión de apuntes fugaces escritos en Cuba durante la Guerra de Independencia. Aquí se mezclan las reflexiones sobre el destino de una nación con las descripciones del paisaje, de las comidas o los personajes que rodean a su autor. Aunque parezca extraño, a veces las oraciones yuxtaponen los elementos de un modo casi cinematográfico y confieren a la prosa de Martí un tono cercano al de los escritores de vanguardia de principios del siglo XX.

Más de 125 años después de haberse publicado en el periódico Patria, de Nueva York, se reimprime y difunde este artículo de José Martí -La verdad sobre los Estados Unidos- por su vigente advertencia, dirigida a los pueblos hispanoamericanos, acerca de los riesgos y peligros a que la ciega admiración por el país norteño, ya en franca y contradictoria expansión en la segunda mitad del siglo XIX, podía conducirlos, y porque estos riesgos y peligros se han confirmado, manifestándose en todo su alcance, durante el tiempo transcurrido desde la aparición del texto martiano.

This case study focuses on explaining how to design an experiment (2℗©℗2 factorial design) to analyze the effectiveness of product placement in video games. Brand familiarity and brand repetition were used as independent variables while brand recall and brand recognition were used as dependent variables to measure the effectiveness of product placement. Four versions of a real online car racing video game were developed to test the four experimental conditions: 1℗=℗high repetition and familiar brand; 2℗=℗low repetition and familiar brand; 3℗=℗high repetition and unfamiliar brand; and 4℗=℗low repetition and unfamiliar brand. This experiment allowed to find out that consumers recall better familiar than unfamiliar brands placed in a video game. Familiar brands also performed better in a brand recognition measure than unfamiliar brands while no interaction effect of repetition was found for both familiar and unfamiliar brands. Con el título común de «Polvo de alas de una gran mariposa» se publican aquí dos conjuntos de versos escasamente conocidos de José Martí. La presente edición se basa en la versión que aparece en el tomo II de la «Poesía completa» de Martí en su primera Edición Crítica (La Habana: Letras Cubanas, 1985), realizada por Cintio Vitier, Fina García Marruz y Emilio de Armas en 1981, y por ende en la transcripción de los manuscritos martianos hecha por los tres editores. El libro que se presenta aquí es una propuesta de lectura que selecciona e integra estos versos, los menos conocidos y, quizás, los más sorprendentes y misteriosos de Martí. Sorprendentes porque su forma y estilo se apartan claramente de sus otros libros -«Ismaelillo», «Versos libres» y «Versos sencillos». En «Polvo de alas de una gran mariposa», en efecto, la estrofa y el verso se hacen más diversos que en cualquiera de aquellos libros. El poema es a manudo brevísimo, en ocasiones epigramático, extrañamente precursor de la "atomización" que después se vería en mucha poesía del siglo XX. Por otra parte, un tono enraizadamente romántico, que va del «lied» alemán a las «Rimas» de Bécquer, recorre estos versos, misteriosos porque no sólo se desconoce cuándo fueron escritos, sino porque la experiencia amorosa que les dio origen también se desconoce. Su lectura demuestra que tal experiencia fue vivida muy intensamente por el hombre, y guardada muy celosamente por el poeta. Y en su calidad sorprendente y su naturaleza misteriosa, radican la originalidad y el singular encanto de «Polvo de alas de una gran mariposa».

Nuestra América es un ensayo filosófico y político escrito por el cubano José Martí en 1891. Su forma elocutiva básica es la de la prosa expositiva conceptual. De ese modo, por su condición genérica, se apoya en un discurso reflexivo.

Jose Marti dedico este libro de poemas, escritos en Nueva York en 1882, a su hijo Jose Francisco. El poeta cubano expresa en el la enorme nostalgia que sentia por su tierra y su continente en general, pero tambien por su hijo y por la infancia como una epoca dorada. Tras la experiencia de la carcel y el exilio, Marti se vuelve hacia los ninos del mundo y en ellos encuentra refugio. Se trata del primer libro de versos escrito y editado por Jose Marti. Ismaelillo es un libro de poemas escrito por Jose Marti para su hijo se trata de un texto de referencia en la literatura de Cuba.

El drama pasional y filosófico "Adúltera", es una obra polémica y moral a la que se considera una fuente bastante importante para adentrarse en el sentido de la vida de Jose Martí, quien comenzó a escribirla en Madrid a los 19 años y la terminó a los 21 en el año 1874, durante su primer destierro de Cuba. Fiel a su tendencia simbolista, Martí le colocó a los cuatro personajes de esta obra los nombres simbólicos, en alemán, de "hombre alto", "hombre bueno", "hombre vil" y "carne". Debido a sus extensos monólogos y diálogos en que se reflejan las sensaciones y pensamientos mas íntimos de los protagonistas.

Es la única novela de José Martí y la primera modernista de América Latina. Fue publicada por entregas en el periódico neoyorquino El Latino Americano con el seudónimo de Adelaida Ral."La literatura de nuestros tiempos es ineficaz porque no es la expresión de nuestros tiempos" dijo José Martí en referencia al naturalismo. En cambio, él es uno de los máximos referentes del naciente modernismo, que en este libro se perfila de manera incipiente. Es la historia de tres grandes amigas, Ana, Lucía y Adela, esta última enamorada de su primo Juan.

Adúltera es una obra polémica y moral, escrita por Martí durante su primer destierro de Cuba, en España. En medio de una exigencia extrema de lealtad, el autor retrata diferentes aristas de la especie humana a través de personajes de marcado carácter alegórico.

Lucía Jerez o Amistad funesta es un texto de referencia en la literatura de Cuba del siglo XIX. Es la única novela que escribió Martí publicada por entregas el año 1885, en el periódico El Latino Americano, que se editaba en Nueva York. En esta obra introdujo los rasgos que caracterizarían a la novela modernista. Gonzalo de Quesada, su discípulo predilecto y albacea, la encontró en unas páginas sueltas del archivo martiano. Este hallazgo hizo posible que la novela no se perdiese, pues Martí la había firmado con el seudónimo de Adelaida Ral.

El 19 de diciembre de 1875 estrena Amor con amor se paga, obra ligera, de versificación sonora, que trata el tema amoroso con cierto humor y gracia. Escrita por José Martí en París durante su exilio para la actriz Concha Padilla, obtuvo la ovación de la crítica.

El 23 de enero de 1869, José Martí publicó en La Patria Libre -solamente se editó un número- su poema dramático "Abdala", en el cual alude de forma velada a los acontecimientos que ocurren en Cuba y el ánimo de los cubanos. La Patria Libre fue dirigido por Martí y Fermín Valdés Domínguez, y editado en El Iris.
