A photo-book of JFK''s visit to the Hanford Nuclear Reservation on Sept. 26, 1963. Nearly 40,000 people endured a 25 mile traffic jam in 90 degree heat without air-conditioning to see JFK at the N-Reactor Groundbreaking Ceremony. This was one of, if not the biggest event in the history of the Tri-Cities - Richland, Kennewick and Pasco, WA. The visit by JFK put a more poignant relief on his assassination for the local residents, just a scant two months later. Most of the photographs were taken by S. Walt Lewis, father of the author. He worked as a photographer for General Electric, the prime contractor at Hanford at the time.
