Artist-drawn humorous postcards were growing considerably in popularity at the start of the 20th century. When war broke out in 1914 trade in them soared as the government utilised them as a widespread means of communication, to bolster morale, stiffen resolve and lift up the spirits in the field, at sea and on the home front from 1914 to 1919. They were also an excellent tool for recording and commenting on military and civilian events as they unfolded. Although the conflict was no laughing matter, humour helped to bring people together and feel stronger during a time of suffering; these postcards helped achieved this and they are therefore considered as significant historical documents. Pack Up Your Troubles is the first book of this kind to focus exclusively on the impact of British humour in the art of the picture postcards of World War One, both in the field and on the home front. James L Taylor Sr. is the son of Henry Taylor; whose grandfather was a former slave. He was born on a Mississippi Plantation in 1958. He is a product of the Orange County Public school system in Winter Garden, Florida. He attended Valencia C.C in Orlando, Florida in 1976; afterwards he retired from the US Army in 1997. He was self educated in the history of warfare, Spiritual Discipline Meditation as a soldier. He is an astute student of Theological and Spiritual Doctrine. He has the biblical Spiritual Gifts of the Spirit of Knowledge, Wisdom, and of Faith. Taylor accepted Christ at an early age and surrendered to preach at age 21. He served as Assistant Pastor of Holy Light Deliverance Church of Columbus, GA. He is married to Loretha Taylor. To this union two children have been born: Tweetie and James Jr.

The growth of joint-stock business in Victorian Britain re-evaluated, showing in particular the resistance to it. Though the home of the industrialrevolution, the nation''s economy was dominated by the private partnership, seen as the most efficient as well as the most ethical form of business organisation. The large, impersonal company and the rampant speculation it was thought to encourage were viewed with suspicion and downright hostility. This book argues that the existing historiography understates society''s resistance to joint-stock enterprise; it employs an eclectic range of sources, fromnewspapers and parliamentary papers to cartoons, novels and plays, to unearth this forgotten economic debate. It explores how the legal system was gradually restructured to facilitate joint-stock enterprise, a process culminatingin the limited liability legislation of the mid-1850s. This has typically been interpreted as evidence for the emergence of new, positive attitudes to speculation and economic growth, but the book demonstrates how traditional outlooks continued to influence legislation, and the way in which economic reforms were driven by political agendas. It shows how debates on the economic culture of nineteenth-century Britain are strikingly relevant to current questions over the ethics of multinational corporations. James Taylor is Senior Lecturer in British History at Lancaster University.

Historians have presented Victorian Britain as a haven for white-collar criminals, beneficiaries of a prejudiced criminal justice system which only dealt harshly with offences by the poor. Boardroom Scandal challenges these beliefs. Based on an unparalleled sample of legal cases - many examined here for the first time - James Taylor presents a radical new interpretation of the relationship between capitalism and the law. Initially, there were no criminal sanctions against publishing false prospectuses, concealing losses in balance sheets, and even misappropriating company money. Persuading judges to play along was harder, with many invoking the principle of caveat emptor to exonerate defendants.
