Jos od 1962. godine ovaj prozno-poetski triptih je jedno od najomiljenijih stiva danasnjih citalaca. Pripovedacka magnovenja vode citaoca putanjama svetlosti i treptaja i otkrivaju sustastvo same njegove imaginacije i stvaralastva. Kroz vecito iscekivanje Jelene, pripovedac tezi ka stvaranju, kao onom metafizickom koje zivotu onoga kojeg nazivamo stvaraocem zapravo daje pravi smisao. Njegova vecita potraga za poetskom misli, za stvaralackom ispunjenoscu je otelotvorena u Jeleni koja ga cudesno pohodi u ocekivanim, ali i u sasvim neocekivanim prilikama. Prokleta Avlija je roman pisan hrvatskim jezikom, ekavskim govorom. Kratki roman "Prokleta avlija", cije pisanje je Andric zapoceo izmedu Prvog i Drugog svjetskog rata, a dovrsio ga i objavio 1954. godine, smatra se piscevim remek-djelom. Komponovan je narativnim postupkom "upricavanja price" (prstenasta, okvirna strktura). Ima vise pripovjedaca koji jedan od drugoga preuzimaju kazivacku poziciju. Pripovijedanje u ovom romanu moze se predstaviti i slikom koncentricnih krugova koji se skupljaju do samog jezgra price.

Roman Travnicka hronika (1945.) oponasa narativan diskurs kronike, a obuhvaCa povijesno razdoblje od dolaska francuskog i austrijskog konzula u vezirski travnik 1807. Godine od njihova odlaska nakon Napoleonova pada 1814. Godine. Zanrovski, roman s jedne strane slijedi tradiciju realistickoga povijesnog romana, a druge modernu historiografsku fikciju. Prica je to o Bosni, njenoj kulturnoj raznolikosti, raznovrsnosti ljudskih karaktera, nacija i vjera koje grade jedan bogat kulturnocivilizacijski svijet, oblikovan i odreden povijenim mijenama, Odnos povijesti te pojedinacnih i kolektivnih subjektiviteta sredisnji je motiv ovog romana kao i cijelog autorova proznog opusa.

The time is Napoleonic and the novel, both in its historical scope and psychological subtlety, is Tolstoyan. Ottoman viziers, French consuls, and Austrian plenipotentiaries are consumed by a ceaseless game of diplomacy and double-dealing: expansive and courtly face-to-face, brooding and scheming behind closed doors. I fortellingene i denne boken beskriver nobelprisvinner Ivo Andric Sarajevo i 1850-årene der militærkommandanten Omer-pasja Latas, hans hær og enkeltpersoner i hans stab er i sentrum for begivenhetene. Fortellingene viser hvilken makt og innflytelse den tyrkiske hæren hadde over lokalbefolkningen i Travnik og Sarajevo. I år er det 50 år siden Andric fikk Nobelprisen i litteratur. Hans hovedverk "Broen over Drina" og "Konsulene" forteller om ulike perioder i Bosnias historie. Denne boken gir et utfyllende innblikk i tidsrommet 1850-1852.

La ciudad de Visegrad (Bosnia), situada a orillas del rio Drina, tuvo un momento de esplendor en la Edad Media por constituir un puente de transito entre el mundo cristiano y el islamico. Esta novela recoge la historia de esa comunidad plural y conflictiva tomando como pretexto narrativo el gran puente de piedra que cruza el rio, lugar de encuentro y paseo para sus habitantes. La larga cronica abarca desde el siglo XVI hasta principios del XX y nos da cuenta de las tensiones y enfrentamientos que se suceden y heredan de generacion en generacion.
