Wissenschaftliche Studie aus dem Jahr 2015 im Fachbereich Geschichte Deutschlands - Nationalsozialismus, Zweiter Weltkrieg, Note: keine Benotung, , Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die ehemalige Sprengstoffabrik Clausthal, mit ihrem Tarnnamen auch als "Werk Tanne" bezeichnet, liegt am östlichen Ortsrand der Oberharzer Bergstadt Clausthal-Zellerfeld in Niedersachsen (Landkreis Goslar). Hier wurde der Sprengstoff Trinitrotoluol (TNT) hergestellt, aber es wurden auch TNT und andere angelieferte Sprengstoffe in Bomben, Minen und Granaten abgefüllt. Ein wichtiger dritter Bereich war die Sprengstoffaufbereitung aus Fehlchargen und Beutemunition. Als besonderes Problem erwies sich die Entsorgung des bei der TNT-Produktion und der Schwefelsäureaufkonzentration anfallenden Abwassers. Diese werden im Detail dargestellt. Unmittelbar nach der Machtübernahme der Nationalsozialisten begannen die ersten Planungen für einen massiven Ausbau der Spreng- und Kampfstoffproduktion in Deutschland. Der rechtlich-organisatorische Aufbau und das Zusammenspiel von Großindustrie und militärischer Führung wurde dafür geschickt verschleiert ("Rüstungsviereck"). Als besonderes Problem erwies sich die Entsorgung des bei der TNT-Produktion und der Schwefelsäureaufkonzentration anfallenden Abwassers. Dies führte in der Planungsphase sowie während des Betriebes der unterschiedlichen Entsorgungs"lösungen" zu umfangreichem Schriftverkehr mit den zuständigen Behörden. Ursprünglich war geplant, die mit gelöschtem Kalk nur unzureichend neutralisierten Abwässer durch Sickerschächte direkt auf dem Werksgelände zu entsorgen, was aber aufgrund der geologischen Situation nicht durchführbar war. Da die aggressiven Abwässer zudem auch Schäden an der Großvegetation anrichteten, war die für das Werk überaus wichtige natürliche Tarnung gefährdet.
