Baby Boomer's Care-Giver Guide
My background in Elder Care Planning and Living Trust allowed me to help my parents preserve their assets, while avoiding spending down their money to a nursing home. There are so many programs that are available for seniors, but they don't know where to turn for proper help. I will guide you step-by-step and point you in the right direction: emotionally, financially, and physically. Learn the difference between assisted living and nursing home facilities; also, government programs, such as: free pair of shoes, free phone, and monthly income for your parent's needs. All are available to help defray your costs. Learn coping skills as a care-giver as well as getting the respect you deserve while grieving. Learn how to take care of you and your loved one. I had the honor of caring for both my parents. My father suffered with prostrate cancer and it had gone into his bones; I talk briefly about a drug that virtually took away his pain in the last 3 months of his life; most doctors haven't heard of it. After his demise, (I found out I had breast cancer), I was then faced caring for my mother (age 91, suffering with Alzheimer's and Diabetes), for many years. Learn about care-giving skills that will work for you. Come with me on My Roller Coaster Journey with "My Two Best Friends." Researchers have now linked Alzheimer's and Diabetes, the two are a deadly combination. Please remember to donate to your local or state Alzheimer's Aid Society, where further research is greatly needed. Anyone will benefit from my book; plan now, don't wait for the need. If you like my book, please tell you family and friends; help me spread awareness to the American public and in other countries.

The Evolution of Stress

release date: Jan 01, 2004
The Evolution of Stress
[Abstract] This study utilized the heuristic model of qualitative research to explore the question, "What is the experience of being motivated by stress to achieve a positive outcome?" The six phases of the heuristic research model were exercised and included initial engagement, immersion into the question, incubation, illumination, explication, and a creative synthesis. A review of the current literature revealed no identical studies connected to being motivated by stress to achieve a positive outcome. However, this study was situated within the framework of the literature reviewed. This research was conducted through comprehensive interviews with six co-researchers and immersion into my own experience of being motivated by stress to achieve a positive outcome. The data was organized using steps in the heuristic formula. The analysis revealed three themes and they are identified as: I. Negative Perception of Stressful Circumstances; II. Attitude; III. Determination. The identified themes depicted the use, awareness and effectiveness of being motivated by stress to achieve a positive outcome. The co-researchers deem that the experience of using stress as a motivator is an evolutionary process; and that determination is the ongoing process that facilitates positive results from being motivated by stress. The findings in this study could be used by educators, clinicians, public service personnel, as well as, students and individuals interested in decreasing the effects of stress and benefiting from the positive effects that can arise from using stress as a motivating force to achieve success.

School Phobia

School Phobia
This study examined the causes and treatments of school phobia from the behavioral, the psychodynamic, and the psychopharmacological perspectives. School phobia is the most commonly seen phobia in school age children. Children who experience school phobia exhibit an extreme aversion to school or to some aspect of the school situation. The child displays symptoms of crying, whining, and tantrums while in the classroom or while preparing to go to school. The child's somatic symptoms may hinder his ability to enjoy or learn from the school setting. Results of the literature indicated that the school phobic child can be treated with behavioral methods, using either a respondent model, or the operant model of conditioning. In contrast, psychotherapy can be used to treat a school phobic child, alone or in conjunction with drug (imipramine) therapy. Research studies reviewed indicated that the behavioral and psychodynamic treatments were 100% effective, while imipramine treatment achieved 81% success. Educators and parents alerted to the earliest symptoms of a school phobic child can prevent a lengthy treatment. This study presents a parent questionnaire and a self-rating scale designed by this author. Use of these two devices may alert parents and educators to a child's anxiety surrounding the school situation.

A CROSS-CORRELATION METHOD FOR COMPUTER-AIDED SELECTION OF CDAA SUM PATTER NS

A CROSS-CORRELATION METHOD FOR COMPUTER-AIDED SELECTION OF CDAA SUM PATTER NS
A circularly disposed antenna array/radio direction finding (CDAA/RFD) system (Wullenweber) can be used to determine the azimuthal angle of arrival for an incoming signal. Unfortunately, there will always be a certain degree of inaccuracy in the resulting value since not all arriving signals will be perfect single-mode data. This report deals with one possible method of determining when to accept the angle-of-arrival value computed from a SUM pattern of the CDAA. Filtering and cross-correlating the data with an ideal pattern are performed. The resulting cross-correlation coefficient gives a value upon which an acceptance or rejection decision can be made.
