On My Believing Days

release date: Jan 09, 2025
On My Believing Days
Douglas S. McLeroy shares an intimate story of belief and unbelief in this memoir. The author had to contend with the death of his parents, sister, brother, son-in-law, three grandchildren, and the near death of his wife. As a result, he knows all too well the deep pain of grief, the tough questions we all carry, and the struggle to believe in the midst of tragedy. The book also highlights the thirty years the author spent as a chaplain in the United States Army as well as the twenty-two years he provided pastoral care and counseling in churches. Journal entries from the author’s diaries reflect the essence of his spiritual journey and the ministry he’s been called to perform. Join the author as he observes how easy it is to believe when life is all sunshine – and much harder to believe when loss is so overwhelming.

BEYOND MATTHEW 18

release date: Nov 29, 2023
BEYOND MATTHEW 18
CONFLICT, and the division, ill-will, and heartache it brings, seems to prevail all around us. Regrettably, people of faith are not immune from the impact of conflict. In fact, too often it seems that those who profess faith in Christ experience conflict in disproportionate measure. Christian families, church leadership teams, Christian owned businesses, and even churches themselves, too frequently disintegrate under the heavy burdens of unresolved conflict. This book is presented as a resource for gaining a fuller understanding of conflict between Christ followers, and for increasing the effectiveness of conflict resolution efforts. It uniquely draws from multiple conflict-resolution disciplines, combining and unifying each with a fuller and more complete understanding of Biblical guidance offered on the topic. And it provides the effective strategies necessary to restore peace and unity among those entwined in conflict. Whether one is embroiled in a conflict or is seeking to help manage or resolve a conflict between others, this book is ultimately designed to help the readers’ efforts to promote and restore unity and peace between those within the community of Christ followers who are struggling in conflict, and to do so in a way that honors God and the guidance provided in His Word. ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Dr. William (“Bill”) Buelow has been guiding others to the successful resolution of conflicts for more than 30 years. Uniquely qualified and experienced as a counselor/therapist, attorney, mediator, chaplain, pastor, and educator, Bill combines the best practices of each discipline as he works with church leaderships, families, business leaders, and others toward restoring Christian unity, trust, and common purpose in a manner that is consistent with and under the authority of biblical instruction. Bill has earned doctoral degrees in law and ministry and a master’s degree in counseling psychology, and has completed advanced training in Transformative Mediation. The author of multiple legal publications, Bill now offers this book as a practical guide to understanding conflicts between Christ followers and to assist readers’ efforts to effectively promote and restore unity and peace between conflicting Christian brothers and sisters.

OVERCOMING ODDS AND OBSTACLES:
“Overcoming Odds and Obstacles,” is a story of a focused and determined high school basketball team, who with the vision and guidance of two coaches completed a phenomenal season. Upstream Teaching in the Church

Upstream Teaching in the Church
During my subsequent years as a pastor I discovered I was not alone in my awareness that teaching in the church can and should be proactive as well as a transformative aid. The question is, why are we so reluctant to acknowledge and employ it to help our hurting learners with this or some other equally effective method?

The God Knot: Undone by Religionosity Origins and Cycles

release date: Sep 30, 2019
The God Knot: Undone by Religionosity Origins and Cycles
The God Knot Undone by Religiosity Origins and Cycles By: HC Potter with GH Moore D Min The origin of evil has been the deepest problem of life. It confronts every human being in one form or other. If there is one question which has eluded all investigations of the keenest intellects of all lands and all times; if there is one problem which has called forth volumes of writings from the profoundest of thinkers; if there is one riddle that has baffled all attempts of the sages at solving it; if there is one problem on which the last word yet remains to be said, despite the world’s voluminous literature of some ten and twenty centuries—it is the problem of the existence of evil. Inspired by recent books disparaging religion, many of which use exemplary human foibles to make their case and show a common disregard for historical background, The God Knot corrects their failings and instead provides a surprisingly simple answer to the ages-old theodicy question: How is God compatible with evil?

Biblical Shepherding

Biblical Shepherding
One grave concern in modern Evangelicalism in the USA is that of staying pure in doctrine and purified from sin. Since all good health physically and spiritually begins with good nutrition, this book also begins there. Hygiene (spiritually) and the exercise of spiritual gifts along with natural endowments are the second and third critical needs of both the church as a body and individual members. Often overlooked is the part we term “healthcare.” How can a person overcome the negative effects of things done to them in their youth and poor decisions that they made as they progressed in life? This is spiritual healthcare. This book may be a “must-read” for pastors and other church leaders in addition to their members.

Living in the Son

release date: May 31, 2016
Living in the Son
---- One foggy, misty day in January my wife Virginia, Toni my daughter, and two grand children: Adonis and Brianna left Dawson, GA for Montgomery AL. I would catch a plane to Houston from Montgomery. As we drove down me 85 it was hard to see because of the misty rain and fog. I thought about turning around more than once, but we pressed on, because the goal was to go to Huston to visit her; she was sick. As I was coming aboard Im looking for the pilot. I want see if he was a mature looking person. I want to see a person with a little grey in his head. I want to see if he looked anything like Captain Sully. I wanted to see if he looked like someone that could land a plane on the Hudson River without crashing, What a thought! Too much clutter to communicate with God! Do you think its possible for us to have so much going on in our lives that we miss the things that are really meaningful? Do you think it is possible that we could fail in our communication with God because we have too much clutter in our lives? Jesus talked about some becoming entangled with the cares of the world that they leave the Lord (Mark 4:19). In Jesus parable of the Sower he mentions one who receives the word among thorns; thus allowing the cares of the world to choke the word making him unprofitable-

Developing Leaders for the Church

Developing Leaders for the Church
There are three phrases that are at the heart of Dr. Campbell''s approach: "The Indigenous Principle," "Servant Leadership," and "empowerment." Without applying these principles to the effort of preparing men and women for leadership, we are dooming ourselves to ultimate failure. A careful application of the principles found in this volume will build a strong foundation for leadership development. The insights found in this material will prove to be of great value to those desiring to prepare men and women to assume positions of leadership. And I am further convinced that this process will transfer to any cultural environment. I heartily recommend this book to all my friends and cohorts in ministry. Norman R. Lindsay, D.Min. http://lindsaychurchsupportministry.com Honorary Presbyter, Alaska Ministry Network former District Secretary-Treasurer, Alaska Ministry Network former board member, Far North Bible College former Assistant Director, Alaska School of Ministry

Biblical Preaching and Teaching Volume 2

release date: Feb 01, 2010
Biblical Preaching and Teaching Volume 2
One objective of this book is to set forth the heart of God''s Gospel. This volume is composed of a compilation of sermons and in-depth studies designed to strengthen and encourage Christians in their daily walk with God and with one another. Since the Cross of Christ is pivotal to a proper understanding of Christianity, numerous chapters in this book explore the "ins" and "outs" of the importance of the Cross in the lives of God''s people. Not only does this book focus upon the scheme of God''s redemption and evangelism as a part of every believer''s ministry, it also calls attention to Christian apologetics, that is, a defense of Christianity. Three chapters are devoted to this kind of study: (1) Christianity versus Skepticism, (2) Credibility and Candor of the New Testament Writers, and (3) Paul''s Conversion: Apologetic for Christianity. Also, this book allocates three chapters to the subject of baptism and its meaning to God''s children. And, finally, four chapters are dedicated to a detailed study of worship within the Christian community. Dallas Burdette has been a serious student, teacher and preacher of the Bible for fifty-eight years, supporting himself for many years as an agent for AFLAC. He has written numerous articles for religious journals, as well as many essays and sermons which are available on his website (www.freedominchrist.net). He has developed a keen interest in promoting unity among God''s people through a more accurate reading of the Word. He has degrees from Amridge University (formerly Southern Christian University) where he also was Director of Extended Learning for five years. He holds the Doctor of Ministry degree (1999) from Erskine Theological Seminary.
