Waste Detectives 2
You are the CTO of a company in the midst of transformational change, you are key to the success of the organisation''s transformation. The flow of products to customers is slower than you had hoped for, due to waste sapping the delivery capacity and the morale of your workforce. You may have already started to find and remove waste in a team or small number of teams. The problem is that dealing with waste at the team level is very different to removing it at scale across the whole organisation. How can you embed, understanding, finding and removing waste across the organisation? How can you embed continuous improvement as part of the organisation''s culture? As CTO, you want to lead the organisation in the effort to find and and remove waste at scale. Along the way you will encounter a number of barriers, not just in teams within the organisation, but external suppliers too. What if you could put finding and removing waste on the strategic agenda, and get buy-in from fellow leaders in order to ultimately increase the flow rate of products to customers and win back the capacity being lost to waste? This book provides a CTO with the following to aid the scaling of finding and removing waste: Waste Detective 2 methods. The importance of influencing at multiple levels; team, lab and leadership. How using waste data can support decision making to improve flow and remove waste via experimentation. Establishing a waste capability maturity framework, across the organisation. The importance of using a language that helps the customer understand finding and removing waste. How storytelling works to expand the numbers of individuals who are curious and want to find and remove waste.

The Effects of Aberrations in Synthetic Aperture Systems

The Effects of Aberrations in Synthetic Aperture Systems
Recent interest in the use of synthetic aperture optical systems for astronomical and reconnaissance applications prompted this study. The imaging characteristics of a synthetic aperture system consisting of six circular elements positioned on a circle were determined for the case when piston error, tilt, defocus, spherical aberration, astigmatism or coma was introduced into one element of the array. In addition, system defocus was introduced across all elements of the array. The effects of the aberrations on the optical wavefront, the point spread function, and the image of an extended object were determined. The optical transfer function was calculated by a digital computer for the case of small aberrations and was measured experimentally for the case of large aberrations. Synthetic aperture systems produce imagery having an unconventional appearance which is accentuated by aberrations. Special demands are placed on the photointerpreter and on photointerpretation equipment from degrading already low contrast imagery.
