Effect of Exhaust Pressure on the Performance of an 18-cylinder Air-cooled Radial Engine with a Valve Overlap of 40 Degrees

Effect of Exhaust Pressure on the Performance of an 18-cylinder Air-cooled Radial Engine with a Valve Overlap of 40 Degrees
An investigation was made to determine the effect of exhaust pressure on the performance of an 18-cylinder air-cooled radial engine equipped with a conventional exhaust collector ring. The investigation covered a range of engine speeds from 1200 to 2400 rpm, inlet-manifold pressures from 30 to 45 inches of mercury absolute, and fuel-air ratios of 0.069, 0.085, and 0.100. The exhaust pressure was varied, in general, from approximately 7 inches of mercury absolute to about 20 inches of mercury above the inlet manifold pressure.

Thomas B. Doyle Notes on California Place Names

Thomas B. Doyle Notes on California Place Names
Handwritten notes taken by Thomas B. Doyle on California place names. The materials are arranged into two groups. The first group is a strictly alphabetical list of California place names, which may or may not have annotations and notes on the etymological origin of a given place name, the history of the place, and the county in which it is located. This series also includes lists of California lakes and mountains (filed in the alphabetical series under "Lakes" and "Mountains"), some with annotations and notes. The second group of materials is a list of cities and towns in California, arranged alphabetically by county and then alphabetically by city or town. This list also includes annotations and notes on etymological origins and history. These notes were one of the sources used by Erwin G. Gudde in the research that led to the publication of his book, California Place Names, in 1949.
