The Secret of Faith Life

release date: Jun 16, 2020
The Secret of Faith Life
But there are others, I am sure, whose hearts are gearning for something better than what they have known. They long, oh, so earnestly, to know Jesus Christ their loving Redeemer, in the power of the Holy Spirit which He has promised, to serve Him with that love which keeps His commandments and always abides in His love. They would fain have it discovered to them what is the secret cause of their feebleness; of their unbelief; of their impotence to influence others around them; of their failure in every attempt to live the prayer life in the joy of daily personal fellowship with Christ Jesus. It is for such that this book has been written, with the one desire of pointing out the path that leads to the full knowledge and love of God. The chief thoughts are very simple, and yet very large. The Almighty God, to Whom nothing is too hard, offers with His omnipotent power to work in them every day what they need for a life such as He would have them live. This Almighty and most loving God claims justly that they shall surrender their whole being, all their life and time and strength every day to His keeping, and to the fulfilment of His commands. And this Almighty God is to be waited on every day with a childlike confidence that He will reveal Himself as God to work out in them all the purpose of His will. Everything depends on giving the Almighty God His place, on yielding our whole life to His service and His working in us; and then the conscious assurance that His mighty power will work in us what is to us impossible. May every reader be brought under the deep conviction of how such an Almighty God, with His wonderful promises, deserves and claims to be met with a strong, whole-hearted faith in every approach to Him. He is worthy of it; and nothing less will suffice for our daily life but a faith which takes possession of and masters our whole being, and ever keeps us waiting on God, entirely at His disposal. The whole God offers Himself to us. Has He not a right, is it not in the very nature of things an absolute necessity, that the whole man, through every moment of his life, be yielded up to this blessed and most glorious God?Just one thought more. In our study of what God wants His people to be, and undertakes to make them, let us beware of only thinking of ourselves. Let each discovery of God''s wonderful grace lead us to think of the Church of Churst around us, and how little God''s children realize what their wonderful privilege in Christ is It is as an increasing number of those who are seeking to follow the Lord fully, take up the burden of their brethren around them, and plead with God for them, that we can expect God to visit His people with the revival of the abundant life in Christ, which will make her the power in the world she is meant to be. Let the low state of the Church and of the great majority of believers, and even of many in the ministry or the work of God, be a burden that we bear as God''s intercessors might and day before Him. We shall find that as we forget ourselves and plead for what appears impossible, we shall enter more deeply into the fellowship of Christ and His sufferings, as well as of Christ and His victory. Such prayer will indeed be fruitful for our own souls and for the world around us.

Absolute Surrender and Other Addresses

release date: Aug 08, 2016
Absolute Surrender and Other Addresses
Absolute surrender-let me tell you where I got those words. I used them myself often, and you have heard them numberless times. But in Scotland once I was in a company where we were talking about the condition of Christ''s Church, and what the great need of the Church and of believers is; and there was in our company a godly worker who has much to do in training workers, and I asked him what he would say was the great need of the Church, and the message that ought to be preached. He answered very quietly and simply and determinedly: "Absolute surrender to God is the one thing." The words struck me as never before. And that man began to tell how, in the workers with whom he had to deal, he finds that if they are sound on that point, even though they be backward, they are willing to be taught and helped, and they always improve; whereas others who are not sound there very often go back and leave the work. The condition for obtaining God''s full blessing is absolute surrender to Him.

They had learnt to understand something of the connection between His wondrous life in public, and His secret life of prayer. They had learnt to believe in Him as a Master in the art of prayer-none could pray like Him". Andrew Murray (9 May 1828 - 18 January 1917) was a South African writer, teacher and Christian pastor. Murray considered missions to be "the chief end of the church".Andrew Murray was the second child of Andrew Murray Sr. (1794-1866), a Dutch Reformed Church missionary sent from Scotland to South Africa. He was born in Graaff Reinet, South Africa. His mother, Maria Susanna Stegmann, was of French Huguenot and German Lutheran descent. Murray was sent to Aberdeen in Scotland for his initial education, together with his elder brother, John. Both remained there until they obtained their master''s degrees in 1845. From there, they both went to the University of Utrecht where they studied theology. The two brothers became members of Het Réveil, a religious revival movement opposed to the rationalism which was in vogue in the Netherlands at that time. Both brothers were ordained by the Hague Committee of the Dutch Reformed Church on 9 May 1848 and returned to the Cape.

The Ministry of Intercession: a Plea for More Prayer

The Ministry of Intercession: a Plea for More Prayer
In this follow-up to his earlier book on prayer, With Christ In the School of Prayer, Andrew Murray explores the idea that Christ actually meant prayer to be the great power by which His Church should do its work, and that the neglect of prayer is the great reason the Church does not have greater power over the masses in so-called Christian and non-Christian countries. Murray is convinced that, "A life abiding in Christ and filled with the Spirit, a life entirely given up as a branch for the work of the vine, has the power to claim these promises and to pray the effectual prayer that availeth much."If you need any reason why you should pray more, or if you want reassurance that your prayers will be answered accordingly, this is the book for you. Complete with Christian truths and an accompanying 31-day prayer guide, Murray hits another home-run with this book on prayer that will cultivate a deeper desire for communion with God.

Humility by Andrew Murray

Humility by Andrew Murray
"Here is the path to the higher life: down, lower down! Just as water always seeks and fills the lowest place, so the moment God finds men abased and empty, His glory and power flow in to exalt and to bless." "Humility is the only ladder to the highest honor in God''s kingdom. It is being and doing nothing by ourselves so that God can be all. It is the acknowledgement that every child of God is but a vessel through which the living God can manifest the riches of His wisdom, power and goodness." HUMILITY reveals an entirely new side of this little understood Christian grace. Andrew Murray shows that humble dependence on God is the basis of all genuine blessing. It is the highest virtue of man and the secret to true nobility.
