An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations
In "An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations," Adam Smith deftly explores the foundations of economic theory, presenting a comprehensive analysis of the dynamics of production, labor, and trade. Employing a luminous prose style that intertwines philosophical introspection with empirical observation, Smith navigates the complexities of a burgeoning capitalist society in the 18th century. His seminal work critiques mercantilism while advocating for free markets and the ''invisible hand'' that guides economic self-interest towards collective benefit, solidifying the book''s status as a cornerstone of classical economics. Adam Smith, often revered as the father of modern economics, was not only a philosopher but also a keen observer of human behavior, shaped by the Enlightenment ideals of his time. An Inquiry Into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations (Annotated)
Differentiated book- It has a historical context with research of the timeThe natural price occupies a central place in the understanding of Adam Smith''s theory of value. This theory is a fundamental element for the analysis of the commercial society carried out by this author. A society based on exchanges of surplus production requires the existence of a common language and an equivalence between the objects to be exchanged. All members of this society live off the exchange and, to this extent, all are considered merchants. Each of them lives the experience of exchange, the experience of value. This experience goes through the nominal prices expressed in monetary terms. However, these prices, due to their contingent nature, cannot be the object of a dynamic study aimed at founding a theory of economic growth. Consequently, Smith uses real prices, prices in terms of working time. This price refers to a universal unit of measurement that allows apprehension of the magnitude of the value. It expresses a commanded work or the "penalties and fatigue saved to the one who buys the merchandise".Accordingly, Smith analyzes market prices and natural prices in real terms. The market price is a momentary price, the result of the confrontation between effective supply and demand, while the natural price is a price that allows the reproduction of the economic system. And it is precisely in the relationship that exists between these two prices, that is, in the theory of gravitation, where the natural price acquires all its relevance:

In The Theory of Moral Sentiments, renowned social thinker Adam Smith presents an intellectual treatise on the phenomenon-and meaning-of morality. The Essential Adam Smith
Few writings are more often cited as a cornerstone of modern economic thought than those of Adam Smith. Few are less read. The sheer strength of his great work, The Wealth of Nations, discourages many from attempting to explore its rich and lucid arguments. In this brilliantly crafted volume, one of the most eminent economists of our day provides a generous selection from the entire body of Smith''s work, ranging from his fascinating psychological observations on human nature to his famous treatise on what Smith called a "society of natural liberty," The Wealth of Nations. Among the works represented in this volume in addition to The Wealth of Nations are The History of Astronomy, Lectures on Jurisprudence, The Theory of Moral Sentiments, and Smith''s correspondence with David Hume. Before each of Smith''s writings Robert Heilbroner presents a clear and lively discussion that will interest the scholar as much as it will clarify the work for the non-specialist. Adam Smith emerges from this collection of his writings, as he does from his portrait in Professor Heilbroner''s well-known book, as the first economist to deserve the title of "worldly philosopher."
