Atmospheric Fluctuation Measurements with the Mk III Interferometer and the Power Spectra of Everything

release date: Jan 01, 1992
Atmospheric Fluctuation Measurements with the Mk III Interferometer and the Power Spectra of Everything
Knowledge of the spectrum of the wavefront phase fluctuations caused by atmospheric seeing is essential to the design of the next generation of optical interferometers, but little empirical data exists. The authors report measurements of power spectra of the white-light fringe motion in the Mk III interferometer under a wide variety of conditions. Most of the temporal power spectra agree with those predicted from the standard Tatarski theory with a large (several km) outer scale, but data obtained with rapid switching of baselines indicate an outer scale of order 30 meters. The authors discuss how these results can be reconciled.

The Little Blue Bird
The Little Blue Bird leaves its nest for the first time, getting lost and caught in the rain. With the help of Love Bird, Wise Bird and Silly Bird, The Little Blue Bird returns safely to its nest. The Finite Sample Analysis of Least Squares Estimators in Dynamic Econometric Models [microform]

release date: Jan 01, 1986
The Finite Sample Analysis of Least Squares Estimators in Dynamic Econometric Models [microform]
The least squares estimator of the autoregressive parameter, LS((gamma)), in a first-order stochastic difference equation with independent, identically distributed random innovations is known to be asymptotically unbiased, efficient and consistent (as T ( -->) (INFIN) or (sigma) ( -->) 0) under the proper model specification. Further, LS((gamma)) has a limiting normal distribution around the true parameter, (gamma), if the random innovations are drawn from a normal population. These properties are not observed, however, in sample sizes that are typical of economic time series.
