release date: Apr 15, 2025
It Happened One Summer Collector's Edition
A special collector''s edition of the fan favorite, TikTok sensation enemies-to-lovers romance It Happened One Summer from #1 New York Times bestselling author Tessa Bailey. This gorgeous edition features sprayed edges with stenciled artwork, full-color designed endpapers, and a foil stamped case. Piper Bellinger is fashionable, influential, and her reputation as a wild child means the paparazzi are constantly on her heels. When too much champagne and an out-of-control rooftop party lands Piper in the slammer, her stepfather decides enough is enough. So he cuts her off, and sends Piper and her sister to learn some responsibility running their late father''s dive bar... in Washington. Piper hasn''t even been in Westport for five minutes when she meets big, bearded sea captain Brendan, who thinks she won''t last a week outside of Beverly Hills. So what if Piper can''t do math, and the idea of sleeping in a shabby apartment with bunk beds gives her hives. How bad could it really be? She''s determined to show her stepfather--and the hot, grumpy local--that she''s more than a pretty face. Except it''s a small town and everywhere she turns, she bumps into Brendan. The fun-loving socialite and the gruff fisherman are polar opposites, but there''s an undeniable attraction simmering between them. Piper doesn''t want any distractions, especially feelings for a man who sails off into the sunset for weeks at a time. Yet as she reconnects with her past and begins to feel at home in Westport, Piper starts to wonder if the cold, glamorous life she knew is what she truly wants. LA is calling her name, but Brendan--and this town full of memories--may have already caught her heart.

Substance Use in the Counselling Profession

release date: Jan 01, 2005
Substance Use in the Counselling Profession
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between stress, burnout, coping styles and substance use in a sample of Australian counsellors. The sample consisted of 716 participants, 539 females and 161 males ranging in age from 20 to 78 years (M = 48.9 year, SD = 10.4 years). The sample included subscribers of the Counselling Australia journal of which many are also members of the Australian Counselling Association. Human services workers, such as counsellors, are reported to be vulnerable to stress and burnout due to the demands and expectations in their profession (Kesler, 1990). Overall, participants appear to be coping well with stress, reporting low levels of depression, stress and work burnout. A small proportion of counsellors did report symptoms of personal burnout. There are also a number of respondents who reported risky levels of caffeine and alcohol use. The results found that alcohol and nicotine were significantly related to coping styles. Gender and age were found to have a significant relationship with aspects of burnout, anxiety and nicotine use. The research indicates that workers should be encouraged to find alternatives to emotion focused coping strategies. The information in this study contributes towards knowledge about stress, coping strategies and substance use amongst a group of professional counsellors in Australia.
