Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2012 im Fachbereich Soziologie - Individuum, Gruppe, Gesellschaft, Note: 1.3, Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main (Gesellschaftswissenschaften), Veranstaltung: Embodiment - Konzepte der Verkörperung, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: In dieser Arbeit wird der Frage nachgegangen, inwieweit Frauen bei dem Entschluss für eine Schönheitsoperation aus dem eigenen freien Willen entscheiden, oder ob gängigen Schönheitsidealen, die von der Gesellschaft vorgeschrieben werden, unbewusst nachgestrebt wird und diese verkörpert werden. Zu Beginn der Literaturrecherche, stellte sich die Schwierigkeit, welche Theorie für dieses Thema sinnvoll ist. Diese Entscheidung fiel zu Gunsten von Michel Foucault und dessen Ausführungen in „Überwachen und Strafen. Die Geburt des Gefängnisses“ aus. Hauptsächlich wird hier ein Bezug zum „Panopticon“ bzw. zum „Panoptismus“ hergestellt. Anhand des Konzepts des „Panopticon“ soll nun veranschaulicht werden, wie das Schönheitsideal verinnerlicht wird und warum es deshalb nicht mehr als fremdbestimmt empfunden wird, sondern als eine selbstbestimmte, individuelle Entscheidung oder ein selbstbestimmtes, individuelles Bestreben. Diese Hausarbeit ist folgendermaßen aufgebaut: Zu Beginn geht es um gängige Schönheitsideale im sozialen Kontext. Dann wird versucht herauszuarbeiten was die Norm der Schönheit überhaupt ist und woher diese allgemeinen Schönheitsideale kommen bzw. wie sie entstanden sein könnten. Im nächsten Teil der Hausarbeit wird erarbeitet warum Frauen sich Schönheitsoperationen unterziehen. Hier geht es um die Sicht der Frau und auf ihre Ausführungen und Begründungen für ihre Motivationen. Um die Relevanz der Thematik und das Ausmaß von Schönheitsoperationen darzustellen, folgt dann eine kurze Erläuterung anhand von Zahlen und Fakten rund um die Schönheitschirurgie. Das Kernstück dieser Arbeit beginnt mit einer kurzen Einführung und Darstellung des „Panopticons“ und dessen Wirkungsweisen. Anschließend wird versucht anhand dieser Theorie auf Implikationen, Gründe und Motivationen für den Entschluss für Schönheitsoperationen zu stoßen. Nach diesem Teil folgt ein kleines praktisches Beispiel um zu erläutern, wie das Erarbeitete in der Realität praktisch wirkt und funktionieren könnte. Anschließend folgen im Fazit ein Resümee und eine kritische Schlussfolgerung über die Thematik ausgeführt.

Logisch wäre es alle Handlungen zu reduzieren, die für eine Erhöhung der Treibhausgase sorgen. (u.A.: Reduzierung der Treibhausgas-Emissionen, verstärkter Fokus auf alternative Energien) Außerdem müssen Möglichkeiten und Vorbereitungen zur Anpassung an die Veränderungen, die durch den Klimawandel entstehen können, getroffen werden. Gerade die ärmeren Länder der Welt werden voraussichtlich besonders unter extremen Wetterbedingungen leiden. Deshalb müssten diese sich besonders für bevorstehende Wetterkatastrophen rüsten. Die zwei Hauptziele um dem Klimawandel entgegenzuwirken sind also: 1. Die globale Reduktion von schädlichen Treibhausgasen um die Erderwärmung und deren Folgen aufzuhalten. 2. Die Anpassung an extremere Wetterlagen (z.B.: Erbauung von Dämmen um Überschwemmungen vorzubeugen etc.) Einen weiteren Lösungsansatz gibt es jedoch noch, dieser nennt sich "Geo-Engineering" und ist das Thema dieser Hausarbeit. Inhaltlich wird in dieser Hausarbeit auf die Funktionalität bzw. die Umsetzbarkeit von Geo-Engineering eingegangen. Dabei werden auch technische Vorrausetzungen geprüft, sowie die Kosteneffizienz. Die Vor- und Nachteile von Geo-Engineering werden dargelegt. Ebenso wird anhand von Generationengerechtigkeit evaluiert ob dieses ein gerechter Lösungsansatz sein kann. Ebenso wird aufgezeigt, wie Geo-Engineering in Bezug auf andere Lösungsmöglichkeiten bestehen kann. Im Fazit wird noch einmal wertend auf die Thematik eingegangen
