Cartography and geographic information (GI) are remarkably appropriate for the requirements of early warning (EW) and crisis management (CM). The use of geospatial technology has increased tremendously in the last years. ICT has changed from just using maps created in advance, to new approaches, allowing individuals (decision-makers) to use cartography interactively, on the basis of individual user's requirements. Critiques of traditional urban planning are numerous. The debate about direction within the profession and why urban planning seems to be in a state of despair continues. However, and as Milan J. Dluhy and Kan Chen note, the more critical issue is the future direction of planning, particularly interdisciplinary planning. Milan Svanderlik's mother, Rose, was born in 1908 in rural Croatia, then still part of the mighty Hapsburg Empire. This book focuses on speech signal phenomena, presenting a robustification of the usual speech generation models with regard to the presumed types of excitation signals, which is equivalent to the introduction of a class of nonlinear models and the corresponding criterion functions for parameter estimation. Compared to the general class of nonlinear models, such as various neural networks, these models possess good properties of controlled complexity, the option of working in “online” mode, as well as a low information volume for efficient speech encoding and transmission. Providing comprehensive insights, the book is based on the authors’ research, which has already been published, supplemented by additional texts discussing general considerations of speech modeling, linear predictive analysis and robust parameter estimation.

Airports are components of the air transport system together with the ATC (Air Traffic Control), and airlines. Many existing airports have been confronted with increasing requirements for providing the sufficient airside and landside capacity to accommodate generally growing but increasingly volatile and uncertain air transport demand, efficiently, effectively, and safely. This demand has consisted of aircraft movements, passengers, and freight shipments. In parallel, the environmental constraints in terms of noise, air pollution, and land use (take) have strengthened. Under such circumstances, both existing and particularly new airports will have to use the advanced concepts and methods for analysis and forecasting of the airport demand, and planning and design of the airside and landside capacity. These will also include developing the short-term and the long-term solutions for matching capacity to demand in order to mitigate expected congestion and delays as well as the multidimensional examination of the infrastructural, technical, technological, operational, economic, environmental, and social airport performance.
