Central West Florida Backroads Travel

release date: Jan 23, 2017
Central West Florida Backroads Travel
CENTRAL WEST FLORIDA BACKROADS TRAVEL takes you off the Interstate Highways and onto the quieter roads that defined this region in earlier years. Millions of people visit Central West Florida every year and never really see it. Everything looks pretty much the same from Interstate 4, Interstate 75 or the Suncoast Parkway. The same old billboards, gas stations, chain restaurants and tacky tourist traps call out to you as you speed along. This guide will rescue you from interstate monotony and take you off the beaten path to what is called Old Florida. This part of our fast growing state is still a place of serenity, natural wonders and historic places. The guide is organized into several different sections so you can browse what you''d like at your convenience. Several historic Central West Florida towns are profiled including Arcadia, Bradenton, Cortez, Dade City, Englewood, Homosassa, Plant City, Sarasota, St Petersburg, Tampa and Venice. The history of each town is discussed and photos are shown along with an antique postcard now and then. If a town has a good restaurant, the guide will mention it along with some favorite lodging choices. Although Central West Florida is noted for its major cities - Tampa, Sarasota and St. Petersburg - the area is also famous for white sand beaches, vast agricultural lands and older quieter tourist attractions. This guide will show you where the best ones are. You will also learn about several Florida State Parks. These parks are quiet treasures that will make your visit even more interesting. Florida heritage and history are important parts of the culture of Central West Florida. The guide tells you about festivals, including art shows, and gives you times and places so you can enjoy them during your visit. You will also find a list of all Central West Florida heritage sites, and will learn about the interesting history of this part of Florida. Last but not least, CENTRAL WEST FLORIDA BACKROADS TRAVEL has a section on Florida day trips. You will be given recommended driving routes along with maps to help you enjoy your wanderings around this interesting region of Florida. The guide is written by Mike Miller, a 50 plus year resident of Florida. Mike is a graduate civil engineer from the University of Florida and has traveled all over the state on both business and pleasure. He writes for and publishes his own website, Florida-Backroads-Travel.com. Much of the material from this guide is from the website.

Concise Guide to Self-Publishing Your Book

release date: Sep 25, 2020
Concise Guide to Self-Publishing Your Book
Although this book focuses on KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing), much of the content applies to other self-publishing services. Some say self-publishing is "doing all the work yourself". Not exactly. There are many services that can help the "self-publishing" process. These services can include several types of editing, marketing, content design, layout, cover design, collateral creation, online sales, printing, distribution, and more. Taking advantage of these services may allow you more opportunity to focus on creativity. But you must establish your self-publishing goals and identify viable helpers along the way. These steps include assessing yourself, and assessing and evaluating self-publisher service candidates, selecting and negotiating a work plan, paying a service fee, and marketing/selling your book. There is a lot to deal with. Compared to "traditional publishing", self-publishing can dramatically accelerate the process of getting your book "out there", and can result in higher per-book revenues.

Worthy of This Great City

release date: Apr 03, 2017
Worthy of This Great City
Ruth Askew, a Philadelphia celebrity, is spouting an unusual philosophy. Maybe she can actually think something different. Con Manos, a journalist, is attempting to uncover a political scandal or two, but just the usual boring kind. Add in some undistinguished members of City Council, a popular radio station, a disorganized charity, a prestigious newspaper, plus any number of lawyers and other professional criminals. Worthy Of This Great City recounts the conflict between two stubborn individualists in a snarky satire that incidentally invites you to question everything you think you think about populism and Liberal elitism, the possibility of truth, the power of profound stupidity, and the limits of personal responsibility in our post-truth, morally-uncertain times. Because actually you don''t know anything. Want something to talk about? Check out the book club discussion questions and cheat sheet at asmikemiller.com.

First Habits Win

release date: Jun 10, 2021
First Habits Win
First Habits Win is the story of how a father learned from his own mistakes and created a system to educate his daughters to manage income, savings, expenses, charitable giving, and debt. The book goes well beyond textbook education as the author explains a very practical and hands-on training system for children, giving them real money to plan and pay for expenses, save, and give to charities of their choice. Author Mike Miller details his own mistakes and how he built the system to specifically teach his daughters the lessons he, and so many of us, had to learn the hard way. He also shares stories of situations their family faced and how they dealt with each of them. Finally, the author reflects on what he would change if he was starting this system with his children today. Parents can use Mike''s simple descriptions to identify their child''s "Money Personality" and tailor the system to the needs of those specific personality traits. In addition to basic financial principles, readers can identify their own "Money Mindset" and understanding how beliefs about money can influence their children''s financial wellbeing for the rest of their lives.

D Troop 1/10th Cavalry 1966-1971

release date: Jan 01, 2022
D Troop 1/10th Cavalry 1966-1971
"D Troop, 1/10th Cavalry was a unique, some would even say “quirky”, element of the US Army’s 4th Infantry Division. The 1/10th Cavalry, “The Eyes and Ears of the Fourth”, was an armored reconnaissance squadron (battalion equivalent). A, B, C, and HQ Troops were armor, as in tanks, APCs, etc. In the mid 1960’s, D Troop was formed to give the squadron airmobile scouting and strategic capability. During the unit’s deployment in Vietnam from 1966 to 1971, about 1500 men served in D Troop. In the last decade or so, we’ve been able to contact and reunite several hundred of them.-- Amazon.
