Author presumed to be Mary Rogers Willis Taylor (1789-1869), the widow mentioned in the Charleston Courier, 4 December 1806: "Married, on Tuesday last, by the Rev. Mr. Bowen, Mr. Joseph Taylor, to Mrs. Mary Willis; both of this city"; buried in Magnolia Cemetery in Charleston, with a marker that identifies her as a native of England.
