Fly Away

release date: Apr 01, 2010
Fly Away
"John never finished his book on whales. I never made it to Seattle. While there isn''t any limit on the number of dreams you can have, apparently you only get to have so many come true." Berry Hatchett is having an ordinary day until John Blake boards her flight. She has settled into middle age, accepting her current career as a flight attendant and her multiple failures at lasting relationships as an okay way to live; not perfect, but okay. Seeing John brings back memories of her younger self, when she worshiped John and his wife and believed their perfect lifestyle was achievable. John Blake is a few years older, a great deal wiser and a lot more lost. He started out as just another guitar-playing teenager who wanted to be famous in a drugs, sex and almost rock and roll kind of way. All of his dreams came true. He found Chris Story, a beautiful Native American singer. He found paradise on an island off the coast of Washington. He had the money and the time to sail, to fly his own plane and to create an organization to save the whales. That was the twenty years ago. 1995 is different. Their flight together brings a beginning to yet another chapter in both their lives. For one it will hold the answer. For the other, the sorrow of unresolved questions.

MotherLess Child

MotherLess Child
Every system that is designed have" Pitfalls " meaning "Traps or hidden dangers." Or they have "Weakness" meaning "not so strong" or "Can be easily broken." I call these Pitfalls and weakness "Cracks." The Department of Children and family Services developed a system designed to provide and protect the children under their care. It doesn''t always work that way because some of the children fall through the cracks of this system into a life of distruction and even death. My Testimony tells what it''s been like to live through mental, physical and sexual abuse, neglect, hunger, and deafness from a crippling Illness. While near death I was blessed with a visitation that followed me for the rest of my life, and provided me with a strong will to live. A visitation I believed came from the Lord Jesus Christ. After my mother''s death I had to endure mental, verbal and physical abuse at the hands of family members who terrorized me with a paralyzing fear. As a young woman and the years that followed I also had to endure abuse but on a different level from so call professional white-collar workers who would exclude me from their social groups. I was cursed, mocked and laughed at because of my hearing disability. I was pushed to my limits in 1998 and found myself murdering fourteen people. Read along with me to share the tears of a motherless child. Feel my emotions, misery and pain. Share with me the demonstration of God''s mercy. I pray that my testimony will open the eyes and ears of both young and old, to help them stand firm against evil to act on their faith and believe in their prayers. I praise and thank God for giving me this great honor to bare wittiness for his glory and hopefully reading this book will make that "blessed hope" real in your life and don''t let nobody take it away from you.

Can I Go Home Now?

Can I Go Home Now?
Sometimes change is good. Sometimes it''s necessary. And, sometimes it is so frustratingly unpleasant that the only way to survive with a modicum of manners is to replace the horror with humor. In this collection of over fifty of her newspaper columns, Mary Williams shares insights into the travel industry. Working as a flight attendant for more than twenty years has given her a close-up view of customer''s attitudes toward the entire flying experience. They''ve changed. "What not to Wear on an Airplane" touches on major differences in travel attire; fewer people wearing dress-up clothes, more showing up undressed. "When Pigs Fly" explains how cabin pets have evolved from movie star''s toy poodles to, yes indeed, pigs. "A Primer on Proper Conversation", "Do as I say, Please" and "Phone Nazi" offer tips on making everyone''s trip safer and, perhaps, more enjoyable. And, "Top Ten Ways to Aggravate your Flight Attendant" explains how not to get upgraded to first class. Not all of the columns are about flying though. "She used to be my Girl" and "Middle Dog Syndrome" are dog stories. "Vulture Vomit" and "Return to Kanab" discuss the varied rewards of volunteering. Several columns are reminders that life in the fast lane isn''t necessarily a good thing, that nature is truly a gift and travel can still be enjoyable. Some of the columns are meant to be shared. "Top ten list for a long Flight", "Are you an Owl, Panther, Peacock or Dolphin" and "Remembering the Good Times" ask questions that are appropriate for any conversation. The book itself is a great icebreaker. Feel free to carry it with you on your travels, discuss it with your seatmates and leave it in the seatpocket if you wish. You may brighten someone''s day and that''s the best kind of change.
