A group of students takes a bus to the aquarium where they view different aquatic animals. Books of the Neighborhood Readers Program build early literacy skills, introduce important content-area language, and help develop speaking and writing skills. They can be integrated into any existing language arts or core reading programs.

This project focused on education health care providers and patients regarding postpartum depression (PPD). An inservice was presented to health care providers related to the different types of PPD, causes, risk factors, progeny effects, and legislation surrounding it. The Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale (EPDS) was also introduced at this inservice as a valid and reliable instrument for identifying women who may be suffering with PPD. A PPD brochure, "Breaking the Silence", was designed as an educational tool to provide postpartum women with information about the types of PPD and its symptomatology. In addition a self-identification questionnaire, the EPDS, and resource numbers for those in need of help were also contained in thebrochuree. Awareness and education about PPD may lead to recognition and treatment for those women suffering with this silent but debilitating disorder.
