Flame: The Skychasers Trilogy 3

Flame: The Skychasers Trilogy 3
In the thrilling conclusion to Amy Kathleen Ryan''s Sky Chasers series, Waverly, Kieran, and Seth struggle to survive on-board the New Horizon-and take down their enemies before it''s too late Waverly and the other members of the Empyrean have been scattered, and their home ship destroyed. Their mission to rescue their parents didn''t go as planned, and now they''re at an even greater disadvantage: trapped with their enemies on the New Horizon, trying to find a way to survive. Kieran has been pulled under Anne Mather''s wing, but is she really trying to make peace, or just using Kieran to build her own power? Meanwhile, Waverly is taken in by a mysterious old man who wants to help her bring Anne Mather down-but the more Waverly cooperates with him, the more dangerous her position is, and the more at odds with Kieran she becomes. Seth''s situation is even worse. After setting out from the Empyrean on his own, with only a vague strategy to guide him, he is a fugitive aboard the New Horizon. He''s doing what he can to challenge the power of Anne Mather, but he''s badly hurt, and getting sicker. All the while, unknown to him, the terrorist Jacob is making plans of his own. Will Seth ever see Waverly again? Will his health hold out long enough to help her topple their enemies? And will Waverly find a way to unite with her friends before they all fall? Nothing is sure and every moment is a risk in Flame, the explosive finale of the Sky Chasers series.

Dark Ages Setite

release date: Jun 26, 2019
Dark Ages Setite
The Dark Ages Clan Novel Saga is a 13-volume series of novels set in the world of Dark Ages: Vampire, released by White Wolf from 2002 to the end of 2004. The series begins with Dark Ages Clan Novel 1: Nosferatu and ends with Dark Ages Clan Novel 13: Tzimisce. Inspired by the original modern-day Clan Novel Saga for Vampire: The Masquerade, this series begins with the end of the original Vampire: The Dark Ages era and continued into the time-frame of Dark Ages: Vampire. The 13 novels are written from the POV of one clan each during the turbulence that swept through the mortal and Cainite societies of Europe following the fall of Constantinople in the Fourth Crusade. These novels, unlike the original Clan Novel Series, are chronological, happening one after the other rather than overlapping. Dark Ages Clan Novel #4 Assamite: ANY PORT IN A STORM Andreas has an offer for the vampires fleeing the destruction in thirteenth-century Constantinople: a way out of the East and passage to the safer lands of Western Europe. But Andreas is not just a merchant, he is a priest of the snake god, a Follower of Set intent on uncovering the heretics in his own clan. If certain refugees need to be sacrificed for that to happen well, such is the cost of faith.

Factors that Contribute to Academic Success

Factors that Contribute to Academic Success
Abstract: This qualitative research study examined the experiences of students who have been academically successful within a large, urban school district, specifically the Boston Public School District. The study sought both to uncover specific factors within individuals, homes, schools, and communities that promote academic success and to capture the experiences and voices of students who have been academically successful in their first seven years of formal schooling.A three-part series of in-depth interviews of thirteen Boston Public Exam School seventh grade students, who also attended the Boston Public Schools for elementary school, yielded the primary data for the research study. In addition, interviews with the parents of student participants as well as administrators at Boston Latin School offered supplementary perspectives. All data were transcribed and analyzed using a three-part sequence of developing participant profiles, conducting cross-case comparisons, and identifying thematic connections. The study yielded five findings related to academic success among urban students. Family involvement, persistence, reading, use of work strategies, and participation in additional learning opportunities emerged as factors that participants claimed have promoted academic success among the student participants. Although the individual findings from this research study may each promote some degree of academic success on their own, collectively the five factors seem to create a web of support that has contributed to the academic success of the students in this study. Many elements of these findings confirm existing research on academic achievement. A number of implications for practice as well as suggestions for future research arise from the findings of this study.

Degree Sequences of Edge-colored Graphs in Specified Families and Related Problems

release date: Jan 01, 2013
Degree Sequences of Edge-colored Graphs in Specified Families and Related Problems
Movement has been made in recent times to generalize the study of degree sequences to k-edge-colored graphs and doing so requires the notion of a degree vector. The degree vector of a vertex v in a k-edge-colored graph is a (kx1) column vector in which entry i indicates the number of edges of color i incident to v. Consider the following question which we refer to as the k-Edge-Coloring Problem. Given a set of column vectors C and a graph family F, when does there exist some k-edge-colored graph in F whose set of degree vectors is C? This question is NP-Complete in general but certain graph families yield tractable results. In this document, I present results on the k-Edge-Coloring Problem and the related Factor Problem for the following families of interest: unicyclic graphs , disjoint unions of paths (DUPs), disjoint union of cycles (DUCs), grids, and 2-trees. Specifically, in Chapter 1, I characterize the degree vector sequences of k-edge-colored unicylcic graphs, and in Chapter 2, I characterize degree sequences of factors of fixed DUPs, fixed DUCs, and fixed graphs with maximum degree at most 2. In Chapter 3, I characterize degree vector sequences of 2-edge-colored fixed DUPs and fixed DUCs, and in doing so, I show that one restricted case for each is NP-hard. Finally, I characterize degree sequences of grid factors in a subset of cases in Chapter 4 and degree sequences of partial 2-trees in Chapter 5.

Assessing Children's Adjustment to Divorce Stress

release date: Jan 01, 1994
Assessing Children's Adjustment to Divorce Stress
This study explores the psychometric properties of a new instrument: Divorce Adjustment Inventory-Revised (DAI-R), designed to assess children''s adjustment to divorce. Factor analysis was employed to examine the structure and internal consistency of the (DAI-R). Four factors were identified on the (DAI-R) which were found to be related to better child adjustment and family functioning. Reliability estimates for the DAI-R factor scales were found to be above.74. The overall DAI-R had an internal consistency co-efficient of.89. Criterion validity estimates for the four DAI-R scales were determined by comparing clinical and non-clinical samples after controlling for demographic variables (age, gender, income, ethnicity). The DAI-R significantly differentiated children in counseling from the non-clinical sample (F = 314, df(4), p $
