Uwe Baumann here distinguishes between two worlds in Shakespeare ́s tragedy "Romeo and Juliet": on the one hand the lovers ́ world, characterised by passion and intimacy; on the other hand the real world, full of violence, chaos and hatred. However, these two opposing worlds cannot be regarded separately. The preposition “in” already implies that Romeo and Juliet are dependent from their surrounding society and during the short period of their love affair it is inevitable for them to act within its rules and regulations. This academic assignment deals with the question how the lovers create their own world and how this private world relates to the real world of Verona. Scholars have often pointed out that Romeo and Juliet differ from their environment concerning their special use of language. It can be described as “magical, passionate, transformative language” (Greenblatt e.a. 1997: 868) enriched with similes, symbols and metaphors. One dominating image, frequently used by the lovers to describe each other and the phenomenon of their passionate love, is light. The first chapter therefore mainly deals with the linguistic presentation of light images in Romeo and Juliet. In addition, the special function of night and darkness for the lovers shall be examined. The light theme is heavily connected to the aspect of time. Thus, chapter two will examine how the lovers deal with the problem of (limited) time during their secret meetings. An interesting key scene for the examination of both, light/darkness and time, provides the final farewell of the lovers (3.5), which therefore will be discussed in detail. Finally, the lovers ́ world shall be examined in terms of its connections to the real world of Verona. The problem of Romeo ́s and Juliet ́s increasing isolation and loss of their counsellors will be of special interest here.

I use this utopia at the beginning of my diploma paper, because I believe that it could be placed in modern time and it can describe the modern man in relation to the mass media today. Each and every one of us uses media in some context of our lives. It doesn’t matter is that the print media, internet, or TV- we can’t live without it anymore. Everything we need to know, all information we need for surviving in the society is connected and broadcasted through the mass media.It doesn’t have to be a first hand experience, we can learn some new information from another person but it is the big possibility that this person found out about this information from the media. This is where the verse “no man is an island” comes to expression at the most. All the function of the media, described later in the diploma paper is subjected to us, to us as individuals in a society, or so the theory says. The mass media and elections: there are a lot of questions we can asand theses we can construct about this theme. Elections are the central instrument for the exercise of the sovereignty of the nation and they can be seen as the quality measurement of the society. They affirm that the political power comes from the people to the politician an as that she should not be used in negative connotations. The main question of this diploma paper is : Why is it possible to have a revolution in a country like Ukraine, whose place in the rang of the free media is way under the place of Bosnia and Herzegovina, whose citizens still live in a bad economical and political circumstances and where one sees no significant move forward?

Seminar paper from the year 2006 in the subject English Language and Literature Studies - Literature, grade: 1,3, Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg, course: Early Twentieth-Century Canadian Novels , language: English, abstract: [...] Martha Ostenso writes in the realistic tradition, leaving behind the idyllic Romances of the turn of the century and applying modern psychological assumptions to the conceptions of her characters. In this respect Wild Geese combines on the one hand an authentic social picture of rural prairie life, and on the other hand the mystical spirituality embodied by the female heroine. The questions raised in this work focus on the relationship between man and women in the novel and on their symbolic presentation as struggling forces of contrasting natures. Most critics perceive the prairie landscape itself as a symbol of femininity mirroring the rebellion of the heroine against the domination of her father. The central question to be examined will be that of Ostenso’s understanding of the female and the male. In section 2 of this work, realistic aspects of the novel will be analysed in order to gain an insight into the narrative structure of the novel. Three aspects are of special importance for this paper starting with the authentic description of the prairie as habitat, turning towards the disfiguring of the Romantic hero in realistic writing and finally focussing on the emancipation of women in the Canadian West. Since the characters in prairie realism are presented as the extension of the landscape, this section is the indispensable preparatory step for the closer analysis of the male and female gender descriptions. The third section deals with the main characters ofWild Geeseand their relationships among each other, investigating, in particular, those traits of character, which Ostenso presents as typical for their gender. Furthermore, the influences of Modernism on Ostenso will become obvious in this analysis, as she makes use of psychological conclusions of Sigmund Freud and the intertextual reference to classical mythology. In section 4, the two alternatives of female liberation shown by Ostenso are set into context with the preceding plot and narrative structure of the novel completing the question about the relationships among men and women. In the conclusive section, the gender-typical features as perceived by Martha Ostenso should have become evident, so that the battle between the sexes as well as its symbolic level of nature against domination will be fully unfolded in the end. All citations from Martha Ostenso’s Wild Geese are gathered from the 1989 edition by McClelland and Stewart and are endued with the corresponding page number.

This unusual circular muscle around the buccal opening, which is not attached to any bone, consists of intertwined fibres that simultaneously act as a dilator and a sphincter. Moreover, the peripheral fibres of this muscle are interlaced with the peribuccal muscles enabling the infinite variations of facial expressiveness. It is essential to understand all of these elements so that they are rigorously safeguarded when undergoing the various type of treatment we can offer. The second common thread in our book is based on highly practical aspects of the various procedures being proposed. From working environment and preparation of the equipment through well whether anaesthesia is indicated and what operating technique is recommended, the contributors have described their personal technical preferences in a context of consistency in this collective effort. Thus we have addressed lip rejuvenation and augmentation with the same balance. It examines how in Germany a highly centralised system with clear legal requirements offers employees extensive rights and protections, while Canada has a decentralised, more flexible structure of labour law due to its federal structure. This decentralisation leads to considerable differences in regulations on minimum wages, working hours, protection against dismissal and holiday entitlements - depending on the region in question. James Ephraim Daniels (1792-1840) was born at London, England, the son of Ephraim Daniels (ca. 1763-ca. 1800). He was appointed pastor of the St. Johns Methodist Church, Manchester, England. He married Elizabeth Salthouse (1793-1869) at Manchester in 1816. They had nine children, 1817-1838. After James' death, Elizabeth Daniels and her children joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1841. One daughter immigrated to the United States in 1841 and the rest of the family followed in 1842 and settled at Nauvoo, Illinois. The family migrated west with the Mormon pioneers in 1849 and 1850. Elizabeth Daniels died at Salt Lake City. Descendants lived in Utah, Arizona, Idaho and elsewhere.
