Fulfilling the Potential of Your Business

release date: Aug 04, 2011
Fulfilling the Potential of Your Business
Creating business value is not easy. The facts are sobering: Out of 27.3m US enterprises, 26.7m are employing less than 20 people and only 5,000 to 10,000 US enterprises are selling out for $10m or more each year. That''s a 1 in 6,000 chance. Therefore, I ask you, are you sure you are increasing business value? Operational tips are needed more than ever. After nearly 100 blog posts of The Smith Report-and many requests for a compilation--I decided to bring these one-page business tutorials together in one place and in a sequence that makes sense. You start with a great a story and build a business around it! This book answers 9 big questions that make a significant difference to the success of a private company. These are: 1. How do you define and dominate your unique market? 2. How do you create a high growth business? 3. How do you build innovation into your culture? 4. How do you attract and nurture the best talent? 5. How do you build a metrics culture that is relentlessly curious? 6. What are the best business models? 7. How do you raise venture or private equity money? 8. How do you minimize risk and build robustness into your business? 9. How do you do acquisitions and integrate them seamlessly? My blog posts and the resulting book offer lively, concise answers you can use as you scale and grow your business. The answers are the results of over 30 years in the business world, during which I have succeeded in creating significant cash wealth for shareholders.

I Used to be Imperfect

I Used to be Imperfect
Ever wondered how to overcome sin? Do you feel like giving up Christianity? You need not despair. There is hope. In fact, the Bible offers you the answer to all of life''s problems. One of the greatest questions ever asked is, "how does a man gain the victory over every sin and how can man be perfect in God''s eyes? There is no need to panic. The way to and of salvation has been made plain in the Word of God. There are many who conclude that it is impossible to live a righteous and holy life. We are not only commanded to do so, but Jesus supplies the strength, and power to overcome sin in all its forms. The truth about victory over sin is one of the world''s best kept secrets that Satan has kept hidden in the dark. If men would believe that it is possible that sin can be overcome, believe in Jesus who paid the price for their sins, and trust in Him to live out His perfect life of happiness in him, they would experience lasting satisfaction and fulfillment in their lives. They would live life to the fullest with the expectation of receiving eternal life when Jesus comes the second time. "I have set the Lord always before me: because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope. For Thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt Thou suffer Thine Holy One to see corruption. Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in Thy presence is fulness of joy; at Thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore." Psalm 16:8-11. The content of this book is designed to clear up misunderstandings about Christian perfection and how we become righteous, holy, and perfect. It offers the wonderful possibilities of living a life of peace, happiness, and joy, and at last enter into heaven and eternal life with a everlasting future of never-ending bliss when Jesus comes back the second time.

A Framework for Interactive Sport Training Technology

release date: Jan 16, 2025
A Framework for Interactive Sport Training Technology
Participation in organized sport has many physical, mental, and social benefits, but there are a variety of obstacles in joining and continued participation, including access to adequate coaching, equipment, and training facilities. These obstacles lead to inequitable access to high-quality and engaging training, which is a critical problem because adequate training is the main gateway to learning and participating in a sport. Increasingly, technology is used to augment sports training by improving its effectiveness, accessibility, and/or making it more engaging. However, the vast and disparate number of fields contributing to these advancements make it difficult to comprehensively understand technology''s current and potential impact on sport training. This monograph synthesizes work across fields, including human-computer interaction, computer science, sport science, engineering, psychology, and health sciences, into a classification of research and findings regarding interactive sport training technology organized around four characterizing dimensions: 1) Why augment sport? (the goal); 2) Which sport skill is being supported? (the target); 3) Which training method is used? (the method); 4) How is training augmented (the form). From this synthesis, gaps in training technology research are identified and a framework that can provide a common base for the design and creation of future interactive technologies for sport training is proposed.

Grumpy Bob

release date: Aug 09, 2015
Grumpy Bob
Another fun tale about the grumpy damselfish called Bob who lives in an old pot under the sea. Damselfish are closely related to clownfish and most of a damsel''s life is focussed on not being someone''s dinner. Being small they are preyed upon by anything with a mouth big enough to swallow them. This makes them rather aggressive little fish. Not only will they chase off any potential predator, they''ll chase off anyone they don''t like the look of, including divers! So Bob is far from pleased when a rather agitated seahorse called Malcolm turns up to ask for his help to rescue Myrtle; a turtle that has become entangled in netting and will drown if she cannot get up to the surface to breathe. Look out for the ''Bobfacts'' and read more about them at the back of the book. Children will not only learn about diving and marine life but also about how important it is to respect the environment. Oh, and about a diver called Miguel who has superpowers.
