Understanding Batteries

release date: Jan 01, 2001
Understanding Batteries
Dell, formerly with the British Atomic Energy Research Establishment, and Rand, with the CSIRO in Australia, commemorate the bicentenary of Alassandro Volta''s invention of the first battery. They write primarily for engineers and technicians who are responsible for specifying, procuring, or maintaining batteries, but keep the electrochemistry as simple as possible for the benefit of non- chemists. c. ADA

release date: Jan 01, 1987
ADA
Considerable emphasis is placed on systematic techniques for designing large programs (structured design) and detailed implementation of program modules (structured programming). Their relationship to Ada is illustrated in a series of case studies. Numerous examples are provided to illustrate the use of the programming language, and end-of-chapter exercises support the material presented in each chapter.

AFCRL's Experimental Aerial Gravimetry Program

AFCRL's Experimental Aerial Gravimetry Program
Between December 1965 and March 1968 AFCRL conducted a series of experimental aerial gravity measurements to determine the feasibility of large scale aerial gravity surveys. This report gives the results of the program and includes a program background, instrumentation description including the four gravimeters tested, upward continuation of gravity methods and evaluation in the test area, data processing procedures including corrections and smoothing methods applied, representative sample profiles, accuracy achieved in terms of profile and mean anomalies, and other aerial gravity tests and studies including helicopter gravity tests, a systems analysis of aerial gravimetry, and gravimetry by means of gradient measurements. Gradiometer Applications and Status of Sensor Development

Gradiometer Applications and Status of Sensor Development
A number of feasible terrestrial and space applications exist for a sensor capable of measuring gravity gradients from a stationary or moving base. These applications include: aerial, marine, and satellite gravimetry; navigation and guidance; mass detection for location of tunnels and for inspection and evaluation of containers, satellites, and on-site missiles; lunar and planetary potential measurements, and asteroid mass measurements. Several different gradiometer designs can be used for these applications and are briefly reviewed. (Author).
