Mr. Charles Dixon has served as a community program Director advocating for fathers and families over 25 years in Newark, New Jersey and across America. He has also served a consultant to the National Head Start Bureau in Washington, DC, working with local and national media; NBC Dateline, and other broadcasting networks.Mr. Dixon is a graduate of Seton Hall University in New Jersey (Non-Profit Management, MPA Program). Charles (Chuck) Dixon wrote “Chasing a Whirlwind” to share his adventures during the 75 years of his life and career in aviation. His life is a story of ambition and determination to reach goals that were often challenging and adventurous. God, family, country, and aviation were the driving factors in his life. He almost lost his life due to rogue whirlwinds or vortices created by powerful military aircraft early in his career. Vortices are necessary for an airplane to fly, and as an aerodynamicist, Chuck was determined to learn how to maximize their effectiveness. During his years working at two major aircraft companies Chuck thought out of the box and created patents that enhanced his work for the rest of his career. His sense of adventure gave him many opportunities to explore the great outdoors and kept him fit during his long life. After an early retirement, and the death of his wife Mary, Chuck won two proposals. First to the Air Force to pursue the creation of a specialty software that could predict stability and control effects of most types of aircraft. The second proposal was marriage to Frieda who would be his lifelong partner in his new business and the co-author of this life story. Sharing his faith in God with co-workers and others became a cornerstone of Chuck’s life. His belief in the power of God to bring abundant life to everyone he met, inspired him to invite others to find God’s peace in this world.

"A two-volume book about the lives of two people who were successful because of their determination. Dennis and Pelma Dixon were born in the early 1900''s. Despite the many hardships they faced, they were able to earn college degrees, raise their children (while both taught school), be involved in community service and every important event in which their children and grandchildren were involved. These were the values they stressed to their family. Many of the stories in the two volumes are taken from Mrs. Pelma Blair Dixon''s diary and journals she kept most of her life, including personal letters written by Den to Pel, and Pel to Den during their courtship. Also interwoven in the chapters are many historical accounts of life in rural eastern Kentucky. The descriptions detailed in this book are difficult for anyone in the 21st century to understand. Both of them lived their entire lives in Letcher County, Kentucky. Their early lives were lived on Elk Creek and Johnson Fork, before moving to Jenkins. Volume 1 looks at this couple''s love for Carcassonne High School, which gave them a start for an education. The many hardships they endured while persevering is a theme throughout the book. Volume 2 takes a closer look at the lives of Dennis and Pelma Dixon after their move to Jenkins, where they would live out remarkable lives."--
