Ein Leben wie im Schlaf: Das Buch erzählt eigentlich ganz wenig - es ist wirklich ein Tagebuch eines Wombat. Er schläft vor allem, ausser wenn er frisst. Falls er etwas oder jemanden findet, spielt er. Damit ist sein Leben ausgefüllt. Das im Buch vorkommende Exemplar ist auch noch von der eher sprachfaulen, lakonischen Sorte. Dafür erzählen die Bilder sehr viel mehr über sein Leben, und das sehr ausgiebig und detailliert. Fortlaufend, wie ein Filmstreifen wird das Baby auf seinem Leben in die Welt verfolgt, bei dem die Mutter vor allem als Auftankstelle zum Schlafen rege genutzt wird, und das in köstlichen Variationen. Er findet sogar ein Menschenbaby als Freund, mit dem er Ball spielt und bei dem er dann natürlich gerne übernachten würde, was nicht ganz einfach ist, aber am Schluss wird sein Wunsch, wenn auch auf etwas ungewöhnlichem Weg, nämlich unterirdisch, erfüllt und er geniesst mit seiner Mama sein neues Zuhause. Ein Buch, weniger zum Erzählen, als zum gemeinsam Betrachten und Sinnieren, möglichst im Bett, vor dem Einschlafen - es steckt an! Ab 5 Jahren, ****, Monika Hedinger.
