Out in Central Park, the Children of the Kingdom are gathering but have not taken into account Spawn_s allies. Nor have they considered the versatile Ab and Zab who, with the help of a magic marker, turn the Citadel into a pillar of death and a gateway to Hell for all the vampires. In the end, Max is saved, but is no longer a part of this world. And though it appears that Spawn has vanquished the Kingdom_s cult, he fails to realize, as a familiar face reminds us, that a gateway to Hell can also let things out.

While Spawn and the ghost of Al Simmons confer in the cemetery, two demons inhabit the bodies of two car accident victims. They walk to the nearest diner where they carry out their earthly mission to kill 13 innocent people and then burn their bodies in a sacrificial circle. Spawn senses the evil vibes and goes to the burning hilltop to investigate. There, he is confronted by the ancient and powerful dark god, Urizen.

While Al roams the city, enjoying the small things in life that he''s missed for so long, a Wiccan is trying to contact the man with no shadow. Meanwhile, there are plenty of others who are interested in finding Al, including the people for whom he used to work. In the deepest, most secure part of a government building resides a mostly insane man who may still have valuable information about Al.

Cog reveals both his origin as Cain and the contents of the mysterious box. Did the box actually contain a piece of the Garden of Eden, or did it only contain the dream of a perfect world? As two policemen approach him, he violently lashes out at them, an act that lands him in a jail cell next to a violent killer that confesses his crimes to Al alone. As Al is taken from his cell to speak with a Public Defender, a shadow lurks in the darkness that surrounds the cell occupied by Al''s self-confessed, murderous neighbor; it''s Al''s missing shadow, which has taken on a life of its own as Spawn! With the aid of the necroplasm, he morphs into the Heap, a ghoulish creature consisting of the rubbish mankind has discarded. As the heat in Manhattan climbs to 130 degrees, the angel Bootsy asks Cog to help Spawn. Meanwhile, Spawn encounters the Heap and is absorbed into the Heap''s refuse body!

Jason Wynn, gives an in-depth presentation on the life and death of Al Simmons. Describing Al''s past missions, along with other recent events, Jason concludes that a full investigation should be conducted, along with surveillance on the Fitzgeralds. With Nyx''s assistance, Al learns to control his "Spawn" half. Twitch, patrolling the streets in hopes of finding Al Simmons, gets his wish granted.

"The Phlebiac Bros. Pandemonium Circus" has a brand new addition, "Hellspawn Patheticus." Contained by the Dead Zone, Spawn is put on display and is taught a lesson on just how truly evil and twisted The Clown is. Still troubled by the offer Mammon gave her, Nyx turns to her old friend Lily with hopes that she will help Nyx save Thea''s soul. Lily makes it clear that she wants nothing to do with it, stating that the best help she can provide would be to pray for both Nyx and Thea. With his own psyche being invaded by Mammon, Spawn summons the strength to attempt one final escape.

Sam and Twitch ponder the results of their research on Lt. Colonel Al Simmons. Meanwhile, Spawn continues to battle the Heap until he ends up engulfed by the mass of trash just as Cog and Bootsy arrive to save him. When Bootsy kneels to pray for help, he finds the sigil of the Hellspawn, a token signifying that Spawn is indeed gone. Elsewhere, Spawn falls into a dark space where the former Eddie Beckett awaits for him and points him toward a light source where he is welcomed "home."

A grizzly murder in Rat City puts NYC cops Sam and Twitch at odds with Al Simmons. But unbeknownst to them, Clown is running around in the possessed body of…Jason Wynn! Collects SPAWN #129-134

Featuring a digitally painted wraparound cover by Greg Capullo. Surrounded by darkness, the citizens of Manhattan are praying for sunrise. The police do what they can to protect the innocent from the onslaught of Clowns, but they lost control of the city a long time ago. Spawn is determined to protect the city from the source of this evil, the thousands of maniac Clowns. To do that, Spawn goes back to his roots with the help of massive munitions and attempts to save a subway car full of civilians. When the people he was trying to save turn against him, a bad situation gets worse as SpawnÕs bandolier of grenades transforms the Manhattan subway station into a burial ground. The chaos continues as Al Simmons is left unconscious in the aftermath.

Bootsy steps between Spawn and Wolfram, the vampire, to keep them from destroying each other. When Wolfram mentions a nest of vampires in the area, Spawn goes to investigate just as the police arrive and take Bootsy in for questioning. At the police station, Bootsy passes a cryptic message to Sam and Twitch. Elsewhere in an abandoned warehouse, a child is being tortured. Spawn breaks in, kills the abusers and releases the child who reveals an emblem blazoned across his belly.

Spawn finds three nervous young men in an abandoned house with the body of a dead Asian girl. All three tell different stories about her demise and the events leading up to it, but each of their stories point the fingers at each other. Justice is served when Spawn gives the knife and the opportunity to carry out the sentence to one of them. He then takes the unlucky knife-wielder away to carry out his own brand of justice.

Jim Downing awoke from a long coma to discover he has no memories of his past life, and worse, he seems to be possessed by a dark, violent power that emerges in times of stress. As Jim struggles to piece together the events that led him to this fate, he finds himself at the middle of a great conspiracy, stalked by agents of both Heaven and Hell. Help is offered from surprising quarters, but can anyone truly be trusted?

Homicide Detective Sam Burke investigates a grisly murder scene where the phrase "Where''s Wanda?" is scrawled in blood on the wall above the victim. At the same time, Jason Wynn plays out a scene from Macbeth, as he tries desperately to wash away the blood from his hands and his conscience. Al Simmons finds himself trapped in a game of Russian Roulette with Twitch Williams. Twitch blames Al for destroying his life. As the game comes closer to an end, Spawn teaches Twitch a lesson about life and death.

Eddie and Andy were children with an abusive father. After listening to Spawn, Eddie took it upon himself to kill his father and end the abuse. (See Spawn #29.) Now, after serving many years in a juvenile home, Eddie is free and looking for the evil being that he feels encouraged him to commit murder. Meanwhile, Cog, who is dying, knows his time to teach Spawn is now extremely limited, but Spawn has his own plans for his own future, the future of mankind and the future of Hell. At the same time, Eddie, who found religion while incarcerated, goes on a shooting spree at the bus station where he is critically injured, as is his plan; however, not even death can dissuade him in his quest to kill Spawn. He is reborn. He is The Redeemer!

Detective Silbert interrogates Bobby at police headquarters about his involvement in the recent alley murders. Bobby makes his one phone call to Dr. Sarah Frost and later she and Sam discuss his options. Meanwhile, Spawn ÒfeelsÓ the latest victimÕs death and vows to catch the killer of his people. Later, Sam finds Bobby almost dead near SarahÕs clinic. He breaks into the clinic to get help and finds a shrine of sorts from the killer relating to his victims.

Spawn and Angela question the Earthbound demons, Ab and Zab, about their role in freeing Urizen upon the Earth. When they are unable to get information out of the demons, Spawn takes measures to temporarily contain Urizen while Angela halts an army of angels from going to war on EarthÕs behalf. Meanwhile, Terry and Wanda reconcile when WandaÕs doctor tells her that the babyÕs due date is much sooner than expected and therefore the conception was earlier than they thought. Cyan is haunted by a demon who knows she has a connection to Spawn.

While Twitch lies in a coma, Sam unknowingly trades favors with Spawn for a miraculous recovery. Sam continues trying to solve the latest, seemingly senseless murders of the homeless but leaves the morgue with more questions than answers after the coroner shows Sam an unusual mark on the latest victim. Meanwhile, Spawn and Cog search a museum of antiquities for ancient answers to the mysteries of the murders and they also find an image of the same mark. Later, Spawn confronts Sam and a recovered Twitch about the results of their detective work even as another body is discovered and this time, itÕs a child.

The Endgame continues. The world of Spawn is still recoilling from the stunning revelations of issue 185. As word of the game changing events echo from the rafters of Heaven to the depths of Hell, players begin to study the board, plot their strategies and make their move.

Nyx continues to venture deeper into Hell. It appears to be not the same as it once was. Since Spawn abandoned his throne, Hell has descended into chaos. With the current ruler, Hell has become a police state. Even with the aid of The Redeemer, Nyx may not survive.

Overtkill returns and his mission is to bring back Spawn''s head. But Spawn has become even more powerful since their last meeting, and it is Overtkill who ends up decapitated. The separated head gives Spawn the information he seeks: the name of the man who has financed and sent Overtkill. Meanwhile, there''s a videotape of Spawn pulling victims of a plane crash from the water. The owner of the tape hopes to sell it to the highest bidder. Instead, he trades it for a bullet to the head.
