A Retrospect of Flowers

A Retrospect of Flowers
Andrew''s almost lifelong obsession with wild flowers - never cultivated ones - was to culminate in the two whimsical, colourful, anecdotal, amusing ''flower'' books: A Prospect of Flowers (1945) and A Retrospect of Flowers (1950).He called himself a ''botanophil'' rather than a botanist, as he was an inspired - but very well-informed - amateur. In the Retrospect he said that he was too lazy to study botany, but that ''so great is my respect, I should always want to take off my hat to a botanist''.
