The Magdalene Revolution

release date: Feb 10, 2026
The Magdalene Revolution
In a radically fresh reading of Mary Magdalene’s story, a renowned scholar of mystical traditions sheds new light on the Divine Feminine as a force for change and healing. For more than 20 years, Andrew Harvey has trained his fine scholar’s eye on sacred texts and mystical truths to illuminate the message of inspired activism that they hold. Today, we need this message more urgently than ever. In this new book, Andrew takes a fresh, impassioned look at the story of Mary Magdalene and Jesus to distill its meaning for our world and show us how to embody this truth in our own lives. The Magdalene Revolution will: Explore how Mary Magdalene is presented in the New Testament—sometimes splendidly, but also absurdly and even dangerously Propose a radical reclamation of the divine feminine by recognizing Mary Magdalene as the Bride to Jesus’s Bridegroom—a female and co-equal Christ in her own right Illuminate a new paradigm of fully embodied divine and human love that each of us can live out in our daily lives “We are in the time of the Second Coming,” Andrew writes. “The old story is dying, and a new story with Mary Magdalene’s and Jesus''s love at the center is being born, because it completes and activates the full range of Christ consciousness.” In Mary Magdalene''s great spirit of healing and transfiguration, this book offers us this new human story—and a path to transform not only ourselves, but our world.

Radical Regeneration

Radical Regeneration
An inspiring manual for navigating humanity’s collective dark night and enacting personal and planetary transformation • Explores how Sacred Activism--specifically, creative, wise, sacredly inspired action--offers an antidote to the crises facing our world • Reveals how to uncover and sustain joy and how to use it as fuel for continuing Sacred Activism in dangerous times • Includes practical maps of the dark night process and of the four-part path to transfiguration drawn from the secret depths of the mystical traditions Presenting a manual for navigating humanity’s collective dark night, Andrew Harvey and Carolyn Baker explore potential antidotes, drawn from mystical traditions and Sacred Activism, to help us find inspiration and take action in the face of the daunting challenges to our world. Offering a deep discussion of our global dark night in terms of the Kali Yuga, the authors examine the dangers of a growing constellation of intractable crises--authoritarianism both in America and abroad, climate change, economic inequality, social upheaval, and spiritual malaise. They then explore the antidotes to these crises: Sacred Activism--specifically, creative, wise, sacredly inspired action--and a profound understanding of our evolutionary ordeal and its potentialities. Examining the power of joy to help enact personal and planetary transformation, they explain how joy, or ananda, is a force all mystical traditions recognize as the essence of the Divine. They reveal how to uncover and sustain joy in ourselves and how to use joy as fuel for continuing Sacred Activism in dangerous times. Drawing on the visionary teachings of mystics such as Pierre Teilhard de Chardin and Sri Aurobindo, the authors show how the global dark night is part of an evolutionary mutation process and how its very intensity makes it the potential seedbed of a new embodied, divine humanity. They offer practical maps of the crises, of the shadows that this global dark night is casting, and of the four-part path to transfiguration drawn from mystical traditions. Sharing a vision of a new and focused global moment of love in action, the authors reveal that apocalypse is not inevitable--if enough people awaken to the extraordinary possibilities of Sacred Activism.

Radical Regeneration:

release date: Nov 03, 2020
Radical Regeneration:
This is a demanding book—but our times are demanding. It is an honest book—and our times demand truth. —Matthew Fox, American priest, theologian, and author The genius of this book is the knowledge that this catastrophe is a necessary precursor to a radical transformation that we are co-creating with the divine. Radical Regeneration is an indispensable guide for what lies ahead. —Betty J. Kovács, Ph.D., author of Merchants of Light: The Consciousness That Is Changing the World This book, Radical Regeneration, is a radiant offering of the possibility of the evolution of human consciousness in the midst of extinction. It’s exactly the fierce and sacred medicine we need right now. —V (formerly known as Eve Ensler), author of The Vagina Monologues and The Apology Andrew Harvey and Carolyn Baker invite us to rise to these times as a grand initiation, to be renewed in splendor, or to stand idly and be swallowed by Kali, the goddess of time and death. —Alberto Villoldo PhD, Bestselling author of One Spirit Medicine and Shaman Healer Sage If ever we needed a guidebook that truly addressed the crises of our times while inspiring us with guidance and wisdom, this is that book. —Caroline Myss, author of Anatomy of the Spirit and Intimate Conversations with the Divine What is being made crystal clear is that humanity stands at a monumentally fragile threshold with two stark choices placed before it in a situation of complete uncertainty: Those choices are: 1) To continue to worship a vision of power, totally distanced from sacred reality 2) Or to choose the path of submitting bravely to the alchemy of being transfigured by a global dark night event that shatters all illusions but reveals the greatest imaginable possibility being born out of the greatest imaginable disaster. If humanity chooses the second path, which is what is being celebrated in this book, then it will have trained itself in the new radical unity necessary to weather the even worse crises that most certainly will quickly follow.

Higher Education Guidelines for Professional and Academic Staff Working with Student Veterans

release date: Jan 31, 2020
Higher Education Guidelines for Professional and Academic Staff Working with Student Veterans
The following guidelines are designed for professional and academic staff working with student veterans in the Australian higher education sector. For the purpose of these guidelines, we define a student veteran as any person who has served in the Australian Defence Force (Navy, Army, and Air Force) who is in higher education (Australian Student Veterans Association, 2019). We use the term collectively to include members who have discharged, as well as currently serving members and reservists. The guidelines are informed by the national project, ''From the military to the academy: supporting younger military veterans in Australian higher education'' (Harvey, Andrewartha, Sharp, Wyatt-Smith, Jones, Shore, & Simons, 2019). The project was led by La Trobe University''s Centre for Higher Education Equity and Diversity Research (CHEEDR), in collaboration with the Australian Student Veterans Association (ASVA), Australian Catholic University, Charles Darwin University, and Western Sydney University. The guidelines have also been shaped by a previous research project, ''Supporting younger veterans to succeed in higher education'', conducted by CHEEDR in collaboration with ASVA (Harvey, Andrewartha, Sharp, & Wyatt-Smith, 2018). As part of the research project, 240 student veterans completed a survey about their strengths, needs, and experiences. While both projects were focussed on public universities, many of the recommendations in these guidelines could also be applied to non-university higher education providers.

Savage Grace

release date: Aug 31, 2017
Savage Grace
In the boldest and most daring book either author has ever written, Andrew Harvey and Carolyn Baker confront us with the life and death reality of the global crisis and the fact that four crucial strategies must be employed not only to survive the dark night, but to inhabit our bodies and our lives with passionate authenticity, honesty, vigilance, community, compassion, and service. These strategies are Reconnection, Resistance, Resilience, and Regeneration. Deep and unprecedented reconnection with self, others, and Earth must be our mission, regardless of the outcome. Distinguishing between “problems” which have solutions and “predicaments” which can only be responded to, Harvey and Baker articulate precisely how we have arrived at this unprecedented juncture and offer strategies of resistance against the fundamental enemies of humanity and the Earth. Such a response demands of us something far deeper than what conventional religions and visions of activism call for--nothing less than living and acting from the Sacred Self, both without illusion and totally committed to compassion and justice even, if necessary, in hopeless situations. With Trump, it’s as if the Titanic has hit the iceberg. We are the passengers. The only question before us, and before the whole world, is how we stop the ripping of our hull. The original Titanic sunk due to human arrogance. There is still time for us to save ourselves with the power of humility, resistance and renewal. This book offers a compelling and profound pathway for human survival after hitting the iceberg. —Jim Garrison, Founder and President of Ubiquity University. A powerful manual for a spiritual revolution! Read it, pray it, reflect on it, and then start acting on it...because the future of the world depends on it. —Adam Bucko, co-author of Occupy Spirituality and The New Monasticism

Evolutionary Love Relationships

release date: Jan 17, 2017
Evolutionary Love Relationships
In this profoundly uplifting book, authors and sacred activists Andrew Harvey and Chris Saade call us to the next paradigm in human relations: love connections that are solidly grounded in individual authenticity, and passionately focused on service and solidarity. Rather than limiting their gaze to each other, partners are invited to take their focus outward, channeling their energies toward those causes that both unite them and transform the world we live in. With love as the fuel for inspired action, the relationship becomes a homage to sacred purpose, finding its deeper meaning in its efforts to positively influence the planet. There are many books that invite us to focus on love relationship - its perils and delights, its shadow and light - as the place where meaningful change happens, and there are others - including some potent ones written by these two authors individually- that invite us to unite our individual spiritual paths (sacred purpose, callings, and the like) with benevolent action, but this is the first book that focuses on the next step: the bringing together of sacred activism and love relationship. Evolutionary Love Relationships contains a powerful vision that offers humanity a path to coupledom, not as a privatized escape or preoccupation, but a path to evolve into dedicated activists whose combined purpose is to utilize their resources to help and sustain the planet, and which does not forsake but includes the pleasure of personal fulfilment between the bonded pair. They can enjoy the fullness of divine human love in the depths of their own personal relationship, supporting each other''s authenticity, but also enjoy it in the ways that those healing depths make them powerful and strong and lucid and vibrant enough to go out into the world and pour their gifts out for the transformation of the planet. What is really at stake is this: If we continue to have a vision of relationship as purely personal, purely private, and something that we cultivate only for our own pleasure, we will keep feeding the tragic narcissism that is now ravaging the planet on every level. The real thrust and purpose and divine importance of relationship is to give us the fuel to take on the world, to give us the passion to embrace the causes of justice, to give us the energy to keep on pouring ourselves out for the transformation of the planet. With a foreword by An Uncommon Bond author Jeff Brown, this inspiring book shows us the way to turn our love relationship into a prayer for world transformation. And not just a passive prayer, but a prayer in action, impassioning the world with a bonfire of sacred and benevolent activism that cannot be stopped. This prayer may well save us.

Diamond Cutters

release date: Jun 01, 2016
Diamond Cutters
Diamond Cutters names the tradition of Visionary Poetry from the early 20th century with Kathleen Raine and David Gascoyne through to contemporary poets in the early 21st in both Britain and America as well as Australia at a time when spiritual consciousness is more important for us than ever; not simply as an inward or private language, but as a way of actively seeing and reading what is going on in our world today at a time of critical personal and political transition. This unique anthology (400pp), co-edited with Andrew Harvey, names and celebrates this impulse and focus, taking poetry beyond social realism towards the Source which is both our origin and transformation as human beings. At the same time, it is deeply political and ecological, critiquing the restrictive ideologies that limit our minds, our freedom, and our compassion. Poets include William Stafford, Robert Bly (now 90), Jeni Couzyn, Andrew Harvey, Dorothy Walters, Janine Canan, Gabriel Bradford Millar, Aidan Andrew Dun, Thanissara, Niall McDevitt, Rose Flint, Thomas R. Smith, Irina Kuzminsky, John Fox, and Philip Wells. It has global reach and emphasis towards what it means to realize ourselves as ''One World People''. The contributors of Diamond Cutters are poets famous and obscure, living and dead, who have come together from points across the globe to present this work, which is being hailed as "Neo-Metaphysical Verse" for our times. "Neo-Metaphysical Verse," is that which opposes directly the bathetic, the ugly, and the trivial, that have manifested so broadly across our world. Diamond Cutters provides a move to end that regime, clothed simply with the truth and beauty.

The Return of the Mother

release date: Aug 20, 2013
The Return of the Mother
Adapted from a series of lectures on the historical basis and current resurgence of the sacred feminine, given by Andrew Harvey at the California Institute of Integral Studies in Spring 1994, The Return of the Mother is a profound journey into the heart of the Divine Mother. In this comprehensive and groundbreaking work, mystical scholar Andrew Harvey unearths traces of the sacred feminine in major world religions—Hinduism, Islam (Sufism), Buddhism, Taoism, and Christianity—and in aboriginal and indigenous wisdom traditions. Harvey presents a scathing critique of the patriarchal distortions in religious history and doctrine that have obscured full knowledge of the Divine Mother, and shows how to reintegrate this vital aspect into the spiritual consciousness of humankind. The Return of the Mother offers a radical new perspective, balancing the historical overemphasis on transcendence by honoring the immanence of the divine in passionate engagement in the world. Only by cultivating a direct, respectful relationship with the transformative power of the sacred feminine can we alter our disastrous attitude of dissociation from nature, the body, sexuality, and the details of human life, and generate the energy and compassion needed to reverse the course of destruction we have set the planet—and all of life—hurtling toward. In lively question-and-answer sections, Harvey further illuminates these vital issues and takes a strong stand against our dependence on “gurus” and “masters,” proposing instead an egalitarian model of spiritual community based on intimate groups of mutually supportive guides and friends. The Return of the Mother is an eloquent and passionate call for all of us to rediscover and reclaim an authentic and empowering relationship to the divine, and recreate a sacred life-in-the-world.

Way of Passion, The: A Celebration of Rumi

release date: Jan 01, 2013
Way of Passion, The: A Celebration of Rumi
In this sublime book the minds of two mystics intermingle in a work of inspired vision and clarity. Jalalud-Din Rumi, enlightened spiritualist poet of Sufism, has been venerated by Moslems everywhere since his death in 1273. No other poet in history?not even Shakespeare or Dante?has made so exalted and comprehensive an impact on his own civilization, and in the latter part of the twentieth century he has become, for people of every race and creed, the poet of the new mystical Renaissance that is slowly but surely coming to its flowering.? No one has done more than Andrew Harvey to spread popular awareness of Rumi?s message. Himself a charismatic mystic, he has spent the last twenty years of his life in search of the essential truths that could transform the spiritual barrenness at the heart of modern Western civilization. In his books Love?s Fire? The Way of Passion? Inspired by Rumi?s voice and by his own startling ability to see into the innermost heart of life, Harvey urges us to change, to have faith and to act through Love to transform this time of Apocalypse into the time of Resurrection. The passion of his words shines from the pages with an intensity that can embrace and inspire us all.

Radical Passion

release date: Oct 23, 2012
Radical Passion
This culmination of award-winning author Andrew Harvey’s life’s work bridges the great divide between spiritual resignation and engaged spiritual activism. A manifesto for the transformation of the world through the fusion of deep mystical peace with the clarity of radical wisdom, it is a wake-up call to put love and compassion to urgent, focused action. According to Harvey, we are in a massive global crisis reflected by a mass media addicted to violence and trivialization at a moment when what the world actually needs is profound inspiration, a return to the heart-centered way of the Divine Feminine, the words of the mystics throughout the ages, and the cultivation of the nonviolent philosophies of Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Aung San Suu Kyi, and the Dalai Lama. Harvey’s concepts of radical passion and sacred activism fly in the face of restraint, of pessimism, of denial, of all that is inhumane, fusing the mystic’s passion for God with the activist’s passion for justice and for healing the division between heaven and earth, heart and will, body and soul, prayer and action. Sacred activism asks that we engage deeply on a personal, spiritual, and political level so as to become a fully empowered, fully active, and contemplative humanity that can turn tragedy into grace, and desolation into the opportunity to build and co-create a new world. Unlike many spiritual books, Radical Passion does not veil the dark with artificial hope. It explores the catastrophes of our current times and celebrates the ecstatic hope and divinity that is possible—right now and in the future.
